Indeed, by not paying more attention to his surroundings, Hard Man would prove to be easy prey for the Dark Area's patrol.

At least, that was the plan.

"RAZOR WING!" came the angry cry of a Devimon from above, followed by the beating of wings. A blast of energy flew towards Hard Man, and the digimon who sent the attack sounded angry. "You've got guts, tamer! Coming so close to our camp! It'll be the last mistake you make!"

Hard Man turned his head to see the attack coming at him as did the Gotsumon who joined him.

"Oh, Yggdrasil! Oh, Yggdrasil! We're all gonna DIE!" Gotsumon said, panicking. Hard Man shook his head and stood up, taking the hit head on, staggering, but still standing.

"Coming close? This is a camp?" Hard Man said, a bit confused. "Where am I?"

Yeah, this was all new to him

Dismayed at seeing Hard Man take the hit, Devimon quickly regained his composure and started to cackle with glee. "Oh man, you're new? You just showed up HERE?!" he laughed derisively. "I don't care how tough you are, with luck like yours, you're going down!"

With a glint of his talons, Devimon streaked down through the air and swiped his claws at Hard Man's torso.

Gotsumon, it seemed, wasn't worth his attention yet.

Hard Man watched in surprise as the Digimon came at him and swiped at his torso. He was thankful for the harden body he had, even though the attack scarred him.

Thankfully, he moved in a bit too close.

"...your first and last mistake: coming too close." Hard Man said, thrusting his fist at the Devimon and unleashing the Rocket Punch-like Hard Knuckle at its head.

Devimon had all of a second to take all of this in. This tamer wasn't going down. Furthermore, he was right. That attack should have completely scrapped ANY tamer, and the fact that it didn't put him at immense risk.

Which was proven as Devimon was sent sailing by the Hard Knuckle.

What was, perhaps, more humiliating would have to be the fact that another tamer CAUGHT Devimon.

With BlackGaomon at his side, and two Boogeymon behind him, Daigo set the larger digimon back on his feet and looked up at him. "We've got it from here. Take a break," he ordered. "Dora! You heard the other tamer! If you're going to get close, watch those hand!"

"No reason to make him be rebellious right away." Dora said, stepping forward with Dracomon by her side, walking calmly towards Hard Man, but of course not coming close. She held up her D-comm ( ... )

Hard Man was, to say the least, confused. Attacked without fault by a creature and now being given a choice between standing down or getting his butt kicked.

Of course, being stuck in a massively unfair match wasn't his idea of a fight. He fought fair and square - that was his way.

"...okay. I surrender." Hard Man said. "...but, I was attacked first..."

"...are we dead yet?" Gotsumon asked, coming from behind

Daigo turned his head as the Devimon, still dazed from the attack, slunk away from them and back towards the camp. He turned his head and looked at Dora, giving her a slight nod. "Smoother than I'd expected," he observed. "Go ahead, it's all yours."

Dora nodded and put away the D-comm. "Yes sir." She said to Daigo and walked over to Hard Man. Even if it was a lie, she wasn't too worried and Dracomon followed her dutifully. "I's hard to sure if someone is the enemy, so some of our guards can be a bit on edge. I doubted you were trying to attack on your own, so you got a choice."

"Are you injured at all?" Dracomon asked. After all, no matter what role the tamer was to play in the camp, they needed to be healthy.

Hard Man blinked at Dora's concern. Any other time, he'd want to knock her senseless because of Dr. Wily's orders. Unfortunately, Wily - as far as he knew - wasn't here and, again, he was outgunned.

"...I'm fine." Hard Man said, nodding.

"He may be fine, but I'm not! They all scared the wits out of me!" Gotsumon said, flailing. "All I was doing was snoozing and then, WHAM! He falls out of the sky, then, RAAARGH!, that thing attacks us, a-and...!"

"...that's enough..." Hard Man said, silencing his partner.

"You took two attacks from a strong soldier," Daigo observed. "I'm impressed. Most Tamers we get out here are not so hardy as that."

BlackGaomon gave Gotsumon an annoyed look and lifted his fist. "Better listen to your partner, kekeke," he cackled.

Dora shot a dark glare at Gotsumon. "Do not misunderstand." She said in a cold voice months of practice had perfected. "The concern is only because it's more useful to have new arrivals healthy for whatever is decided. Act weak and you will be eaten alive." She said.

She looked at Hard Man. "But it seems you've impressed Sir Daigo. That's a good sign for you," she commented and looked over at Daigo. "Should I take them to Aerith just in case, sir?"

Gotsumon let out an 'Eep!' and hid behind Hard Man as he heard BlackGaomon and Dora, his Tamer looking back a bit annoyed.

"...I impressed him, huh?" Hard Man said, a bit sheepishly. "...Thanks." He looked around a bit confused. "...now what? I... don't think I'll be leaving soon..."

"You won't be," Daigo confirmed. "Tamers aren't brought here with the option to leave, and the fates have decided that you, in particular, are not very lucky."

He turned his head and nodded towards the camp. "We're down there. You arrived in the most barren, worthless stretch of land in the Digital World. We're making it worthwhile, through whatever means we can," he said, and then he turned to look at Dora. "He took two big hits, she should at least take a look at him. If he needs to fight, I want him in top shape just so he can't complain if he loses."

"Yes sir." Dora said, motioning for Hard Man and Gotsumon to follow her. "This way." She said and turned towards the camp and started to walk. "In the Dark Area, just surviving requires you to fight. The stronger you are, the better off you are. And the weaker?"

"You'll be overwhelmed and deleted." Dracomon finished.
