Sasami let out a sigh as she traveled along the halls, trying to gather her own thoughts. She was beginning to regret taking up the extra job at the Royal Base, especially after the chain of events that unfolded the past week with Kazune and Doom. She was thankful she was able to talk to both Hay Lin and new arrival Cornelia to get her head straightened enough to get Karin's back on and...

She shook her head and tried to put herself back in the here and now. There was stuff still to do and...

She stopped as she saw David and his weary look. "David? Are you okay?"

David practically jumped out of his skin when Sasami asked him that. He turned to look at the girl. "Sasami?" he asked, before shaking his head. "Sorry, been on edge ever since I introduced myself to Ryo's latest kid...and he had to go open his mouth."

Sasami tilted her head in confusion hearing that. Time to act as a councilor again.

"Uh-oh... what happened?"

"I had only told Ryo before about what happened before I came here. He had to blurt out the fact that I ended up destroying about half my hometown without locking the post." David said before sighing. "I've been trying to get over it, but I was worried about getting the same backlash I got back home for it."

"I see..." Sasami said, looking down. She let out a small sigh as she tried to figure out what to say. "I don't blame you for being worried, David... I mean, I'd be worried, too, if I had something that heavy bearing down on me... heck, I... kinda do..."

David sighed. "Honestly, Sasami, when what I had done happened, the only thing that kept me alive was police protection. The mob of survivors would've killed me. Sad part, I would've let them." David said.

Sasami's eyes went wide hearing that. "Wh-why?! Why would you let something like that happen to you?! It was probably a mistake!"

"Because it's one thing to fail to save innocent lives, it's something completely different when you're the one that killed them. No matter how you spin it, I'm guilty of mass murder," David said, pausing for a few seconds. "We were in the middle of downtown Manhattan. Imagine it like Tokyo if you've been there. V-mon's father, a Goddramon, had emerged wanting to finish the job of killing us. V-mon ended up dark evolving to Mugen Dramon and rampaged. They never told me the death toll, but I have a feeling I put most villains anyone can think of to shame without even trying."

Sasami stood there, stunned. She honestly didn't know what to say, the only thing running through her mind at the moment was the fear of Tenshi, her DORUmon running rampant through Dark Evolution. She couldn't fathom it, she didn't want to. The times that she's been tempted by that, both while facing Doom, she had been tempered by righteous anger instead.

"I... David, I... I wish I knew what to say, I..." Sasami stammered, leaning back on a wall in thought. She looked at her right hand, slightly sparking with Quintessence. "...I guess we all have that problem. That fear. Knowing that one day, we could lose control and..." she trailed off, her mind playing back through Doom's attack at the Dragon and finding out about Kazune. What would have happened if, instead of Guardian Up that first time, DORUmon Dark Evolved instead? Would would have happened if DORUmon had followed and Dark Evolved when Sasami found out about Kazune?

"What I went through, from what I saw...was a rare, but real scenario. I've been trying to get over it, and I'm pretty much there for the most part. But until that kid Yori opened his mouth to the public about it, I had been trying to keep my lips tight on it." David paused a bit to sigh before saying. "What I'm afraid of now...? Well, what do you think of me now knowing I've done?"

Sasami closed her eyes and let out a sigh before she spoke. "David... I have some very strange friends. Ryoko... she tore apart worlds under the control of a man named Kagato, even killed me when I was younger, yet, here I am with her by my side as a friend. Nerissa... she nearly tore apart Hay Lin-neesan's friends and the people they love with her lies and deceits and almost got to me as well. Now? She's came to our aid... mostly because of me, because I was willing to trust her despite what she did

David sighed, starting to relax more before turning back to look at Sasami, smiling a bit. "Thanks, Sasami. I...probably needed to hear that more than anything,"
