Suguru, who was in the middle of talking things out with the hotel manager, blinked in confusion.

"... Satsuma-kun? Uhm, Mr. Muchomon, if you'll excuse me..."

He approached Satsuma. "Hey, there!" he said, trying to sound cheerful. "Satsuma-kin, what's the matter?"

Satsuma's face was dead serious, his face furrowed so tightly you'd think it was stuck that way.

In response to Suguru's question, however, he quickly and angrily lifted up the mangled sheet of paper for the professor to see: a simple "contest entry" form with Satsuma's name scribbled in the name category, amongst other choices that seemed... rather uncharacteristic of the DATS commander.

"Do you or anyone else care to explain this?"

Suguru narrowed his eyes and looked at the paper.

"... Satsuma-kun, that's an entry form," Suguru said, somewhat vacantly as he smiled at his friend.

Satsuma leaned his face closer to Suguru's and said in a quiet, but rather harsh snarl, "Yes. I know it's an entry form. But why is my name on it, and why am I signed up to sing at a contest?"

Suguru smiled nervously.

"Uhm... you or someone else entered you in a contest?"

For a moment Satsuma was silent, taking a moment to take a deep, pronounced breath through his nose before slamming the paper on top of a sitting booth.

"That's what I assume." He began, "Which brings me back to why I'd come here looking for you and everyone else."

There was dumbstruck silence, even some nervous chuckling before Satsuma roared his finshing question,

"Which one of you entered me into that contest under my nose!?"

Suguru sighed.

"Satsuma-kun," said Suguru, putting a hand on his friend's shoulder. "I'll say this. I didn't sign you up for that contest, and... anyone else who would is not in the lobby right now."

Satsuma looked unconvinced, but even if Suguru was acting suspicious, he was never a man who would lie, especially to your face.

Still...

"Then if it wasn't you," Satsuma asked in a slightly calmer tone, "Then part of me thinks you have an idea of who did."

"Not in the slightest, actually!" chimed Suguru, laughing nervously.

And at that moment, Yoshino and Touma came out of the nearby elevator, discussing something or other.

When they noticed him walking towards them, Satsuma, while not as visibly angry as he was when he first entered, still looked nonetheless displeased.

"You two," he began, "do you happen to have an explination for this?"

Yoshino blinked in surprise, and then gave the Captain a wry grin.

"Why Satsuma sir... I never knew you were the type to perform. I really look forward to it."

Touma eyed his friend and colleague and sighed.

"Yoshino, I doubt that the Captain actually signed himself up. Besides, that is obviously Commander Yushima's handwriting."

It seemed so obvious, but part of him suspected a conspiracy. Yet he was so focused that someone other than the obvious choice could be behind it that he hadn't really thought of it. Yushima was so good at duplicating handwriting, but.. there was something about it that reminded him of the mischievous old man upon inspecting with the thought in mind.

If he had never sung under the influence of that virus, if everyone hadn't heard him...especially the fact that there was no talent contest in the first place...

At that moment, Satsuma was so furious he couldn't say anything. All he could do was shake his fist with the paper clenched in them, before going to sit down in a unoccupied booth seat.
