Rin and Ty had been knocked back hard by the blast, far enough that they were not only out of the main battlefield, but that they couldn't see Ratchet or Mr. Zurkon anywhere when the both finally stood. The dust cover was insane, though only slightly clearer where they had landed. Chaosmon was in that mess somewhere, but damned if he was visible at all from where they stood.
He tried calling out for Ratchet loudly, swiping at the dust with the flames on his sword in hopes of dispelling some of it, but when no answer came back right away he felt his stomach twist in worry. Where was the Lombax?
"Rin..." Ty said after a moment, her attention elsewhere and voice suddenly sorrowful. And that's when Rin finally heard it. The screams of innocents fleeing for their lives on the island, trying desperately to get away from Daemon's wrathful flames... and failing. Some one was attacking the digimon, but he barely registered the others presence right then.
Flashbacks hit Rin like a semi. The Gehenna Gate, traveling over True Cross City, raining hellish fire down upon the poor unsuspecting inhabitants. He felt his anger grow, the demon flames raging wild over his body. Not again. He couldn't let this happen again!
"Ty, hold still!" he barked, crouching and leaping high in to the air. Before she had a chance to say "what" he was on her shoulder and of again, hurling himself full force at Daemon with a feral cry, sword swinging down with every intention of striking him.
The Lombax heard the cry for his name but couldn't answer. The blast and thrown him and Mr. Zurkon back too far and he was currently choking on the dust. Okay. This thing was much bigger and badder than he thought. This was not good. Not good at all. He got up and quickly moved over to Mr. Zurkon.
"We need to get to higher gr...ound..." He stopped and stared at Daemon. Fiery destruction and death rained down upon the island. Chaosmon was forgotten as he watched those digimon die at that monster's hand. And to make it worse, he caught a glimpse of something blue flying towards him. No...it wouldn't be. Was that...?
What was a flick to Daemon felt like being hit by a tree to Jim who was winded and almost sent tumbling through the air. Instead he managed to grab onto Daemon's leg and swing wildly gripping his ankle with all the extra strength afforded him by his mutation.
"You're under arrest dirtbag!" He wheezed in the best authoritative voice he could manage.
Crossmon had to push into a sharp divebomb to avoid the flames and raced along the street below preparing a counter attack.
The cry from twin voices echoed across the battlefield. As Daemon was distracted with those that had reached him first, Simon and Lagann came upon the battle. Attack first. He had to take the advantage while he had it.
Thus, the spinning wheel of death that had been removed from Lagann's chest a moment before came whirling at Daemon from the side, Simon's crimson Digi-Soul trailing off of it.
Daemon knew there were many things coming at him. Things clinging to him, trying to hurt him.
Gnats.
First, he generated a crest in front of him - the same crest that severed as the Demon Seal of Wrath. This served as a shield, blocking both Rin and Simon and his partner's attacks coming at him.
Then he fired it. A Chaos Flare. A massively powerful one, that would burst forth and scorch whatever lay in its way. And, more than likely, force anything on or near Daemon's person away.
Rin hit the shield first. Hard. Hard enough to be thrown back by the impact. But as if that wasn't bad enough, the Chaos Flare caught him while he was still in the air. He didn't even get a chance to scream when it hit, sending him flying.
He vaguely remembered falling after that, the ground getting closer and closer until he crashed in to it so hard he went skidding back several more feet, leaving a literal ditch in the ground in his wake.
His flames sputtered and died, but he remained conscious, and in a lot of pain. He stared at the hazy, dust covered sky above him, head absolutely spinning. Soon enough Ty was over him, a worried expression written in to her normally ferocious features.
Ratchet watched as none of those attacks seemed to work...at all. His eyes couldn't tear themselves from Rin as he was hit by that massive swirling pillar of flame and crashed into the ground.
"No! Mr. Zurkon! GET ME UP THERE!" Ratchet jumped onto one of Zurkon's claws and he took aim.
"Mr. Zurkon will launch measly furball. Destroy him! Booster Claw!" The claw launched off of his arm, rocketing towards Daemon. The Lombax was glad his gravity boots activated as they should have, keeping him secured to the claw. He kept his knees bent and ready, eyes blazing with righteous fury. He'd make this bastard pay! He waited until he last moment, just when the claw was about to strike, before deactivating the gravity boots and activating the hover boots, launching up into the air and materializing his Judicator. Orange digisoul covered the weapon and missiles before he fired. Unleashing as many shots as he could in the air. One. Two. Three. Three shots, nine missiles.
The chaos flare hit Jim so hard that as he was ripped away from Daemon and sent spinning through the air he lost track of direction. He was no long sure if he was falling, or flying. His vision blurred, his muscles tensed and he braced himself for impact.
He never even saw the building that he was thrown into, all he heard was a "CRUNCH" and the world went dark.
Crossmon was knocked back, flapping his wings wildly to level out once more. He cut a wide path around Daemon flying to the building Jim had vanished into.
Ratchet's attack and an attack from Simon and his partner hit Daemon head on... but when the smoke cleared, the demon was hanging there in mid-air, unharmed.
"Your digimon is a walking arsenal, and you use him as a catapult?!" the demon laughed, focusing on Ratchet. "Just for that, you're first! FLAME INFERNO!"
Daemon opened his mouth, and intense flames burst from his maw, scorching straight towards Ratchet and Zurkon.
"Oh boy..." This wasn't good. Seemed he had at least pissed him off. Not that that was a good thing...at all. Ratchet brought his arms up and closed his eyes. The orange digisoul surrounded his body, creating a barrier but it was nothing compared to Daemon's flames. They burned through the barrier, shattering it and hitting the Lombax. He screamed in pain, the heat searing his armor, fur, and skin. He fell through the flames, plummeting down towards the ground. He could hear his heart in his ears, pumping hard and fast, sending blood through and out of his body. He was bleeding, burning, falling, his mind quickly becoming consumed by the pain.
Mr. Zurkon was still on the ground and had time to react. He rushed to the side, avoiding the center of the attack. His left side was hit by the fire, scourching his metal arm, shoulder, and leg. But he wasn't about to let pain stop him, he never had before.
"You dare hurt measly furball! Feel the wrath of Mr. Zurkon!" Leveling his cannons at Daemon, Zurkon unleashed his Catastrophe-D attack, throwing all of his power into those cannon blasts, hoping to do something to avenge his measly furball of a Tamer.
With the distraction of Rachet's take down, Crossmon hoped to make the most of his time and rushed Daemon from behind, clamping his beak tightly to try and avoid calling out till the very last second "Kaiser Phoenix!" Aiming for the place where both Daemon's wings met in his back.
Jim was woozy but on his feet again seeking out something to throw, the best immediate option being a toilet. The best he could hope fore with that was a distraction. So bunching up the muscles in his arm he hurled the procline throne at Daemon's face, flashing back to his brief stint in high school football.
It was Ratchet's scream that finally jerked Rin out of his trance-like state, making him sit up with a start, staring with wide eyes as he watched the smoke trailing off of Ratchet while he descended. If he hit the ground at that speed...
"TY! THROW ME!"
"What?! You're going again after he nearly killed--"
"NO! RATCHET!" Rin barked, pointing where Ratchet was. Ty only needed to turn her head to look before realizing what he was getting at, and she picked up her much smaller tamer easily, hurling him towards the falling Lombax.
Thankfully her aim was true and he was able to grab Ratchet mid-air, caring not for the scalding parts of his armor that burned in to his skin. His path arced back down to the ground, making it easy for him to land on both feet and skid for several yards. He laid Ratchet down, putting his hands to his furry face.
"Ratchet! Ratchet, wake up! Say somethin', damnit!"
Simon clenched his jaw, as Lagann held the boomerang, wielding it like a sword. Daemon was just as powerful as he'd of thought... as powerful as he knew he'd be since their "encounter" years prior.
"Bastard..." he snarled, Digi-Soul rising up around him... which then surged out to envelop the mecha Digimon he sat in. "You've been planning this, the whole time... EVER SINCE WE'VE BEEN HERE!"
Lagann surged forward, the ground breaking beneath his feet with each step from both his own weight and the force of Simon's Digi-Soul pushing down. As he neared, he approached from the side opposite of Mr. Zurkon's blasts, and brought the boomerang down towards Daemon's head.
Daemon created another Chaos Flare circle, but held it as a shield, all of the attacks clashing against it as the demon lord let out a laugh.
"What was your first clue, my dear Simon?!" he cackled. "Or are you still sore about the time you fell to my manipulations? You really should get over it, because someone fell much harder than y- ARRRGH!"
For a brief moment, the Demon King of Wrath had been taken by surprise, as Crossmon plowed into him from behind. He was more surprised than harmed, tumbling through the air for a brief moment before flapping his wings to right himself.
Crossmon took the opportunity to dart away as fast as he could flap. No sense in lingering. And his vision was slightly blurred from the impact. He'd circle around and wait for another opportunity.
Jim meanwhile scaled down the side of the building. Raw strength wouldn't win the day here, so he was going to have to prove he still had a brain under all those muscles.
Ratchet groaned as the fire died down, leaving him a wounded mess. His eyes moved under heavy lids. Even with them closed he felt like he was still spinning, falling. The horrible noise in his ear kept groaning on, almost like grinding metal and mashing teeth.
Where was he? Oh right. The Great Clock. He was going to say goodbye to Clank and walk him into the Orvus chamber. And there was yelling. Just like the kind that he could hear now. What was it? Who was it? General Azimuth. He was yelling at him. Telling him it was his responsibility...to not walk away from him. To stop. And then he was in pain. Pain in his chest, body, head throbbing. Just like now. But then he fell and now...he wasn't falling. Why? And he heard his name again. Could it be?
"C-Clank...?" His eyes slowly opened, his vision blurred. He blinked a few times to force the fog away. "Clank...is that yo-...Oh Rin...it's you..." He sounded disappointed, his ears drooping. But then it all came back, Daemon, Rin falling, the attack, him being hit by the fire. He sat up with a start only to couch hard, blood leaking out of his mouth.
