On Sundays, they usually slept in late if there were no other pressing matters to face. They would just stay in bed for a while, just enjoying the quiet. Normally their lives were so chaotic that sometimes a couple extra hours were a blessing.

Sunday came and went the day before just as busy and demanding as any other day.
Dean rolled over and was greeted with the empty side of the bed. Blinking owlishly as he became acclimated to the light in the room, he heard the bathroom door open.

“I can’t believe you didn’t turn on the alarm,” Chloe groused as she entered the room. A towel was wrapped around her tightly and her hair was dripping water onto the floor.

He sighed, rubbing his eyes with the heel of his hand. “You need a day off,” he responded, voice husky from sleep.

“You turned the alarm off!” she reiterated, frustrated as she dug through the closet. “Damn it…”

“You’ve been working too hard.”

“I’m late.” The hangers clacked together as she pulled out a pair of pants.

He snorted as he pulled himself out of bed, stretching his arms above his head. “It wouldn’t be the first time.” And it really wouldn’t. How many times had Clark had to come get Chloe because she had been running late?

Though some of the reasons why she was late sometimes were enticingly good reasons to be late.

“No, Dean,” she stated pointedly as she pulled on a shirt. “I’m late.”

Late? What kind of…

Oh.

That kind of late.

Dean stopped in his morning routine of getting dressed. His mind seemed to freeze in shock. She was pregnant. Well, she could be pregnant. With a baby - his baby.

He was going to be a father.

Dumbly, and not thinking before he spoke, Dean said: “I guess it would be the first time.”

“I didn’t want to say anything until I went to the doctor,” Chloe said, frowning. “But then you went and turned off the alarm clock and…” She glanced toward the clock, sighing as she sat down on the bed. “My appointment started five minutes ago.”

Both had their reservations over parenting - Chloe concerned with the possible meteorite heredity.

And this? The family thing? He never thought that he would ever have the chance.

He kissed her fervently, feeling her begin to smile against his lips.

But they could handle it. They always found a way.

Chloe never did make it to that appointment.

Years later, as she stepped through the front door after a long day at the Planet writing up an article on Ugly Manheim’s latest crimes, Chloe remembered the day she told Dean she was pregnant with Andrew.

It had been completely unintentional. She had wanted the pregnancy confirmed before she got his hopes up. She had just blurted it in her frustration.

She had suspected that he would freak out - go off driving in the Impala and come back completely drunk, but he didn’t.

His excitement had been contagious. All of her fears over whether her body would allow a pregnancy were forgotten.

Now, as she leaned against the doorway of the living room, seeing her son draped across Dean’s chest in slumber, she smiled.

It had been unplanned, but when had they ever been able to plan anything in their lives?

She stepped carefully around the blocks and toy soldiers that littered the floor. Her two boys lay sleeping on the couch, the television relaying that day’s baseball scores lighting the room. Gently, she picked Andrew up off Dean’s chest, being careful not to wake either of them. The boy rested his head on her shoulder, hand grasping his stuffed turtle tightly.

Chloe put Andrew to bed, making a brief stop in her bedroom to change into her nightclothes. Dean lay unmoved on the couch.

She smiled to herself as climbed on top of him, pressing light kisses along his jaw line.

“Hi,” he whispered quietly, hand roaming up her thigh to rest on her waist.

“Hi,” she replied back. Chloe shifted, pulling herself up to kiss him slowly. “Did you and Andy have fun tonight?”

“Mmm,” he sounded. “We watched Hook three times.”

Then, she remembered the toy soldiers on the floor: “And stormed the enemy lines, I take it.”

“Course we did. Wouldn’t be a Tuesday if we didn’t.”

Chloe laughed, resting her head on Dean’s chest. She felt his arms wrap around her and she closed her eyes, knowing she was home.

“Hey, Dean, what if we have another one?”

“Right now?”

“No…maybe….eight months from now…”

He held her tighter.

“You think we can handle two?”

“I don’t think we have a choice at this point.”

“I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Chloe sat up, raising a brow at him.

“Okay, a little less Robin Williams would be nice.”
