I didn't think the premiere was that great last night. I had time to sit and reflect, but all I can remember were the massive eye rolls ( Read more... )

Well, when/if we see Dean abstaining and preaching, then we'll know what really happened behind the scenes. ;D

Dean will be giving Sam disapproving looks when he's checking out girls, there will be no drinking and no lying...

And I will be staring in horror at the podperson that replaced my Dean.

I was underwhelmed too. And I thought a lot more people would be, but a majority of my flist seems to have completely loved it. :/

I don't know ... it just doesn't feel like old school Supernatural. And I'm not sure how well bringing religious connotations into this is going to work for the show.

I understand the religious connotations. The world is made up of binaries, so it makes sense to have something to counteract the 'hell' that we've seen on the show. However, I'm a little wary of how they might go about developing this.

I liked it a lot. But you know, mileage may vary.

Some things I liked, others I didn't. It all depends on how Kripke and co. plan to proceed, I guess. It's too early to tell.

I was dissapointed.
I've watched the show on and off, and I was really excited for the premiere but it felt kind of...idk...flat.
I'm on the fence when it comes to whether or not they should have bought Dean back immediately. Frankly I wonder if the episode would have been better had it been centered around Sam and what he has been trying to do, ending with a) Sam at Dean's grave and surprise some one is trying to get out or b) Sam finally going to Bobby and cut to Dean getting out of the grave or knocking on the door.

That would have been an interesting angle to see played out - to see what Sam was like over the interim four months until Dean came back. But the mystery about it is also good from a storytelling point of view.

I don't know what the writers have planned, if they'll give us flashbacks of both Dean in Hell and Sam in "hell" or what they'll do. The episode, I feel, could have been handled better. This could have been the episode that invoked a lot of emotions from the viewer, it could have given us a deeper insight to Sam's desperation to get his brother back and his need for vengeance. Instead I was left with a WTF feeling.

Any chance of you coming back from hiatus? Maybe re-write the episode?

I'm sure that the writer's strike last season caused a severe upset in the way that Kripke and co. wanted to handle the storyline. Hopefully, they'll be able to find their footing again and do something great.

Sorry, hiatus is still happening. And I'll leave the episode "re-writing" to sweeteen_200 with her Crossing Kansas (SV/SPN) series. :D

okay, so I definitly love reading your fics and I just saw this post and wanted to comment.... cause it kinda bothered me. I hope that's okay. :)

What's the big deal with the angel? There are demons.... so why not angels? If there is evil there is good. I don't get the problem.

Remember, this was my initial response to the season premiere.

It wasn't the fact that they were introducing the angels - the so called "good guys". The world is made up of binaries so it made sense that Kripke and co. were introducing some sort of opposition to the demons.

I was more concerned on how they were going to play out the storyline with the biblical/Judeo-Christian tradition. It could get very preachy and very narrow-minded really fast. (For the record, I am a Catholic - a liberal Catholic, but still a Catholic.)

However, they seem to be doing really well with the way they are telling the story. They are keeping the boys in character which was one of the main concerns I had. So the initial 'Ehhhhhh...I don't know...' has kind of worn off a bit.
