This weekend has been absolutely non-eventful. I have been having headaches still but now that I can manage them they are just freaking annoying, especially because they make me so tired. Today has been a lot better, mostly because I think that front has finally made it all the way through. Hooray! I'm looking forward to a better week with less migraines...these suckers have killed me this week.
In between all the sleeping I've been doing, I actually did something pretty productive--I made a dress! This is the first garment I've made since I was 13 and in Home Ec, when I made boxer shorts. This dress...was significantly harder than boxer shorts. But I'm pretty proud of myself.
It's not perfect, I made a lot of mistakes...this was my first time to use knit, which is pretty unruly, and I misread the pattern in a BIG time way. BUT Tim Gunn would be very proud, because I made it work! I knew how it was supposed to look, and I understood my mistake, so I figured out how to get it together despite my mistake. Some of my sewing is crooked due to not being used to sewing the knit, but I got the hang of it after awhile and it actually looks really cute on! The pattern runs pretty big so the finished dress is rather loose through the midsection (I was able to fit the shoulders and sleeves really well due to the mistake I made and the way I fixed it, yay me!), but I had planned on belting it all along with a wide patent belt I have, and that looks super cute!
All in all I am pretty damn happy with the finished product. I'll try to take pictures of myself tomorrow because I plan on wearing it. Now that I've finished one thing, I am super inspired to make more. Now I just want to go nuts ordering fabric, since I bought a ton of patterns at Joann's on Friday night for $1 each. I got almost the entire
Built by Wendy pattern line, which is what I made my dress from. I think my next project is a cute shirt out of two fabrics I have and a different Built by Wendy pattern.
Off to put some laundry in and go to bed...somehow I am still tired.
