To any and all who read this who are wondering...
The Connecticut Renaissance Faire is closed for the season due to massive flooding at the site. The small brook that runs through the fairgrounds is probably 7-8’ deep and has overtaken the bridge crossing it; most of the lowlying area is under fast running water as well. Our shop thankfully had no merchandise in when the creek jumped its banks, but we did lose all of our display materials and crates and tables and chairs and...well, never mind all that. A lot of people have lost much more than just replaceable shop fixings. As soon as they know more about how to help, I’m sure there will be a more official announcement than this.
So, if you or anyone you know was planning to come to the closing day tomorrow, please save yourselves a trip. Many of the roads in and around Woodstock are washed out and closed, and the faire itself will not be open due to the destruction. It will be open again next fall, panic not, and thank the gods that no one was injured or lost. Things will improve...I hope.
