I make no secret of the fact that I don’t get along too well with blockbuster movies.

That said, I am bursting with fruit flavor for the following two movies-

1) The Three Musketeers

It’s clearly not a faithful adaptation of the novel and, in fact, looks to be done in the style of steampunk. And yet I find that I am oddly fine with this for three well-thought out and entirely reasonable ... um ... reasons.

1) Matthew Macfadyen is Athos. This pleases me greatly.
2) Luke Evans is Aramis. This also pleases me greatly.
3) There are big ass zeppelin’s in the sky. In 1600’s France!

(And bonus: Orlando Bloom is going to crack me up hardcore in this, I’m pretty sure. Just seeing his dumb ass in his costume made me snorfle.)

Basically? I’m in like Flynn for this movie. *bounces*

2) Immortals

I probably don’t need to explain why I’m looking forward to this one. But I will anyway

1) Henry Cavill. Yum.
2) Luke Evans. This time he’s Zeus. *goes all moony eyed*
3) Greek mythology, even when they mix it up and make a mess out of it is still a billion times more awesome than anything else in the world. True fact.

And while the trailer isn’t out yet, I’m also waiting with baited breath for The Raven. Do you guys want another three reasons for this one? Might as well keep with a theme, right?

1) John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe. Eeeeee!
2) Luke Evans. (Are you guys noticing a trend here?*)
3) Poe solving a serial killer case-there’s nothing they could possibly do that wouldn’t have this being totally amazing.

*Luke Evans is everywhere lately! I watched Tamara Drewe the other day and was all, “Oh, he’s pretty!” and went off to see what else he’s been in and as I was going through his credits on IMDB, my eyes kept getting bigger and bigger until it’s a wonder they didn’t pop right on out.

In other non-movie related news-

It’s Nan’s 85th birthday in a couple of days and I have no idea what to get her. My first thought was one of those teapot/mug combos. I think they’re the cutest things ever but I don’t drink tea (cause, ew) and so whenever I can buy one for someone else, I totally do. Only, I remembered that I bought her one for Christmas and then I just gave her another one I got on sale only a few months back. So if I give her yet another one, it’s going to look like I’m just being lazy.

Soooooooo ....? I’m at a bit of a loss. It’s going to have to be pretty cheap b/c I need moneys to go out to dinner to celebrate said birthday. Somewhere along the line, it was decided that it was absolutely imperative we all go to the Burswood Casino and hit one of their fancy schmanzy fine dining restaurants for the occasion. So I have to count on basically spending $100 on a meal (alright, maybe not that much but it’s pretty pricey all the same!). I’m really annoyed about it, actually, and have been trying to get out of it all week but keep getting guilt-tripped back into it.

But anyway-

I shall be off to ... I don’t know. I might read. What a novel idea! (<- See what I did there? *is lame*)
