Radial Symmetry

To help modulate the post-NaNoWriMo blues I've experienced each December, I signed up for two writing challenges. I got my assignment for the first--a BtVS gift exchange--today, and it is so wide open that I feel sort of floundery about it. That would be something I am incapable of doing. Good luck with both the challenges though.

I take care of my blues doing the Yuletide rare fandom exchange and this year is a doozy because I don't even have an idea and it's T minus 17 days to last day to upload. I just the characters running randomly through my head panicking over the lack of story - it's actually a good fandom for that, now that I think about it.

The human brain is always looking for (or making) patterns. Symmetry is a one of the more pleasing patterns.

Is it pleasing because there's a sense of--comfort, safety, accomplishment?--in knowing what to expect?
