Day 1: 5074 words

So, once again, despite plans to plot and etc. in advance, I'm starting NaNo with a few vague characters and setting, and a kind of a theme of a theme. And once again, magic happened anyway. I put my heroine in a dark alley, started rambling, and suddenly knew who she was hiding from and more importantly, how she had to be found by them to really introduce her big issue. Bam. I wrote a creepy, actiony, tension-filled chapter to kick off the novel, and chewed through the word count.

I started to flag early into hour 4 of the write-in, though I'm not sure whether because of the late hour, the length of time I'd been writing, or the lull that the next chapter brought to the action. Any of those could be chicken or egg, really. Were I of scientific bent, I'd experiment . . .
