2.5 weeks ago I've noticed the upstairs flat leaking into my own.
3 visits upstairs and 7 e-mails later (between myself, landlord and tenants) nothing has been done to resolve the problem, despite promises from the landlord to 'chase up the plumber again' suggesting he actually did something first time round.
I now have the start of black mould forming on my bathroom ceiling.
In addition to this the paint is coming off in chunks from the kitchen wall.
I am concerned the water pipe will burst completely and flood my flat when I'm at work.
I think it's time for me to get a surveyor in and then bring in a lawyer.
My takeaway messages from this experience:
Being nice doesn't solve anything.
Being ignored is the most frustrating feeling ever.
Suing will make me feel better.
From now on when dealing with upstairs never bother trying to be diplomatic - go straight for the hardline approach till they either get evicted, move out or sell-up.
My dog hates the people upstairs. She growls and barks each time they are too noisy. My mum suggested I take her upstairs, knock on the door and do a runner leaving her behind :)
