Dag!
The streets are cobblestone and narrow, the people are fit and trendy, this combined with the architecture makes me think of a fairy tale town. I haven't purchased a bike yet but this city is literally covered with them. The coffee shops are lovely, I have found a couple less touristy ones and the experience is nothing less than amazing. I have posted pictures on Facebook mostly because it's easier than posting on here. I tried to make a blogger but often, because of being in the Netherlands, the websites come up in Dutch. I went dancing at a place called Odeon and surprisingly most of the music was American! I can't lie, there was a fair share of Eurotrash Techno but for the most part it was fantastic. The weather is wet and cold but my spirits are very high (no pun intended!). Things are pretty expensive since the euro is so strong but this isn't the first time my food has been limited. Fruit stands dot the streets and the pride the Dutch take in their little gardens on their doorstep is great. Never have I seen so many flowers concentrated in such a tiny space! Today I went to my Museology class and found out I will be visiting 15+ Dutch museums! Oh, my schedule is as follows:
Museology in the Netherlands
The Social Meaning of Gender Differences
Dutch Through Culture
and
Field Experience
In Field Experience I get to create my own personal project and do a bit of research! I think I'm going to try to interview several Dutch therapists and try to figure out a bit about their practice. I had a friend who saw a doctor here a few weeks ago and he made her suffer with a nasal infection for a week before giving her a prescription for antibiotics! From what I understand, Dutch doctors don't like to prescribe meds which I find interesting. Anyway, I hope things are going just as well for all of you as they are for me. Take care!
