The Wilson-Phale Residence, Back Yard, Friday Evening (07/06)

Jul 06, 2007 20:50

It was just after sunset, and Aziraphale was stretched out on his back in the grass, watching Wilson fuss a bit with the rich garden grew behind their house. Despite being an angel, he'd never learned the knack of caring for plants -- that was always Crowley's thing -- and so when left up to him, the garden simply grew, as if it knew it was ( Read more... )

"I almost have this last bit of rosemary in, just a moment!" He called back as he set the little herb plant into the ground and carefully pushed soil in around it.

Marking it with a small tab and feeding it a bit of water, he stood up and washed the rest of the dirt off his hands before heading over towards where the angel was stretched out on the grass.

"You resemble an overgrown cat, you know that don't you?" He teased lovingly as he folded himself down to sit beside his mate.

"I'd rather be a duck. Cats don't get to have their wings preened," the angel retorted, grinning up at his lover. "Are the plants happy? I don't want to wind up with grumpy, jealous plants, you know."

Aziraphale pulled one arm from where it rested behind his head and reached for Wilson's hand. "How are you feeling?" he asked, in a softer voice.

"They're very jealous, I am sure you will have to give them a private little rain shower to make up for it," Wilson teased as he reached out to take his lover's hand.

Letting Phale draw him down to the grass with him, Wilson stretched out beside the angel and lay his head against his lover's chest.

"Getting there," he responded softly. "I think at this point I just need to remind my body of what it can do if it puts it's mind to it. Been spending too much time laying about, I've gotten lazy."

Making a mental note to conjure up a nice cool spring rain on the next dry day, Aziraphale wrapped his arm around the young doctor and bent his head to press a kiss to the man's hair.

"Mmm, yes. Because all the cleaning and cooking you do every day isn't any kind of activity at all."

Still, Wilson did have a point. "There's a Y in town. I imagine it has a pool, or a racquetball court."

"Is there? Huh, I can't remember if I put my racquet in storage before we left or not but I'm sure I could get a new one and swimming would be a good start."

It was strange and a little frustrating to have to think of having to impliment an exercise routine when just months ago his body had been in perfect shape.

"I also need to get on a routine schedule with the clinic," Wilson groaned a little and shook his head. "That's something I've let go for too long."

"I'm rather certain there's a racquet in the hall closet," the angel mused thoughtfully. Which, well...now there was. It was a nice one, too. The case even had a stylish tartan trim.

"You've been ill, James. Even doctors get sick leave." He stroked his fingers lightly through Wilson's hair. "It might be good for you, though, to get back to doctoring. I know you, you go too long without an excuse to wear your stethescope, and start getting antsy."

Wilson knew by his lover's tone that said racquet had just shown up somewhere in the house, he did not know about the tartan.

He'd find out soon enough.

The last comment got a laugh out of him and he peeked up at his lover.

"Is that your way of saying you'd like to play doctor with me?"

Oh, he loved hearing that laugh!

Aziraphale chuckled himself, and put his arms around the young doctor, looking down into warm dark eyes. "I...suppose perhaps it could be taken that way," he teased softly, his own eyes twinkling. "I was here all by myself for the longest time, you know. With no doctor around at all."

"The longest time?" Wilson said with a playful chuckle and he swatted Phale lightly on his ribs. "You are a hopelessly absurd creature and very lucky I love you to distraction."

"Oof!"

Aziraphale laughed as well, and tightened his arms around his lover. Which was not entirely just to keep the man from smacking him again.

"I am lucky, James. The Host themselves are positively green with envy at how lucky I am."

"Well, green with something perhaps," Wilson said a bit more practically but he kissed the edge of Phale's jaw anyway and went back to laying across his chest.

It was, he decided, a very nice way to spend a few hours in the cooler weather of the evening.
