Banishing Aftermath: An Unnamed Location in Town, Sunday Evening (10/07)

Oct 07, 2007 21:20

It wasn't pretty, and it had probably drawn a lot of unwanted attention, but the portal had been summoned and the fallen angel sent back to his own world. Aziraphale was back, a little worse for wear, and it was time to try and put things back to normal.

As normal as they ever were in Milieux.

It's very likely Wilson will spirit him off to be scolded and fussed over, but before that happens, anyone who would like can speak with Aziraphale here.

Once everything was over, Marie walked over to where her dads stood.

"It's good to have you back," she said.

Aziraphale smiled tiredly at Marie, and then opened his arms.

"It's good to be back," he said softly.

Marie was more than happy to give him a big hug. "You're okay, right? Not hurt or anything?"

The slight wince at Marie's hug might have suggested that he wasn't quite 'okay', but he'd been quick to hide the bloodstained wings, which made it a good bit easier to assure her that he was fine.

"Nothing that a bit of rest won't cure. Just very glad to be home."

Marie wasn't quite sure she believed that, but she figured her dad would make sure he was all taken care of.

"I really didn't like the other you," she admitted. "He was kind of a jerk."

"So I understand," Aziraphale murmured, looking a little sad. "I suppose that's what Falling does to a person. I'm sorry you had to meet him."

"We kicked his ass," Marie remarked with a little smirk.

"Good for you," Aziraphale chuckled, giving Marie another squeeze. "I suspect he'll think twice about messing around with the people in this town again."

He took a minute to lean back and look her over. "He didn't hurt you, did he?"

"Not at bad as I hurt him," Marie said, giving him a smile and ignoring the twinging pain in her shoulder. It was nothing that some ibuprofin, a cold beer and a hot shower wouldn't fix. "He really didn't seem to like that locket you blessed for me."

"No, I would imagine he didn't," Aziraphale agreed. He didn't offer to heal Marie's hurts, which was either a sign of his respect for her ability to nurse them herself, or a sign of how tired he was from his own ordeal on the other side of the portal. "But that was my intention, so I'm very pleased to hear that it worked.

"It worked perfectly," Marie said. "He also seemed surprised that we organized against him. He was screwing with people all week though."

"Well, he is Fallen, you know. That's rather his job."

It was a hard line for Aziraphale to walk, balancing his concern for his friends and loved ones and his sympathy for some of those who worked for the 'other side'. "But I'm glad you were able to do...whatever it was you did to switch us back. And very grateful."

Marie leaned up and kissed his cheek. "We couldn't let him try to take your place."

"It's a lot of work looking after you lot," Aziraphale teased, looking awfully pleased at the cheek kiss. "I rather imagine he wouldn't want the job for very long."
