holy crap, what a day it has been. so i got home from another eventful morning of sorting on the boxlines, and decided to get my last 3 yards done before it started raining. well, it started raining when i was a mile down the road. i kept driving though, hoping it would pass. it didn't. i mowed 2 of the yards, coincidentally right across the street from each other, and had just finished both of them when the rain stopped. then i walked back over to the truck after loading everything to drive to the last yard. well i got in and the rear-view mirror caught my eye, because there was something strange about the light coming through the back window. the entire window had spider-webbed as the result of only God knows what. i may have thrown a rock while weed-eating, the lawnmower may have hit a sharp object in that direction, or maybe the weight of the mower going onto the trailor put enough strain on the body of the truck to bend it enough to crack the window all the way across. either way, i freaked. dad didn't want me driving the truck to begin with, so i foresaw his reaction to a busted back window. i tried calling him and then realized he was in the middle of a funeral. so i sat down and thought things through. while sitting there, i had left the door open because i was afraid of shutting it just incase the force might knock the window out, so guess what the wind decided to do? the wind picked up enough to cause the door to slowly shut on its own. it picked up enough speed to close with a small, but sufficient, amount of force. the middle of the window busted out. i figured by this display that driving the truck would most certainly bring about a collapse in the window out of the frame. i called bradley first to see if he could help me out with the use of a drivable vehicle, but he was in greensboro. so then i tried leslie. she answered, and i asked if she would bring me a roll of packing tape. as she was on her way, dad called and said "DON'T DO ANYTHING." so i stepped away from the vehicle. leslie, along with her mom and sister, arrived with the tape that i was no longer allowed to use. i thanked them anyway, and they left. dad finally drove up, talking to the insurance guy on the phone. he got out and said "alright i think we should find some tape and cover the window with it to hold it while we ride over to the glass place." i don't know why, but that idea seemed so familiar. needless to say, he was amazed when it just so happened that i pulled out a brand new roll of packing tape. we did an awesome job of taping it up, and we left for the glass place, on the other side of burlington. so the truck is there now, being fixed. and i am at home, trying to ignore the fact that i have to ride all of the way back over to that last yard tomorrow. if it's not raining, that is. ugh.
i didn't mean to right a novel, but i'm almost proud of the fact that the past 4 hours have been so eventful. chances are, if you read that all of that, you are now a little bit dumber.
