I'm working on planning Ethan's 1st birthday party for the end of August (for those of you who know you're invited, it will be Sunday, August 21 and I've already booked the place so it won't change). I looked through many themes and I'm going to go with a Farm theme and make a pig cake and a cow cake. I can't wait to start all the fun

favors -- you could do little bandanas with "HAPPY BIRTHDAY ETHAN" and his birthdate on them (fabric paint)... tie them with a piece of hay-colored raffia... they could wear them!
let's see...
the invites would be SO MUCH FUN! (i might have to steal this one from ya!)
you could also do candy apples (apples remind me of harvesting -- farm)
you could use red and white checked table cloths (might be hard to find) with a few pieces of corn tied together with some raffia -- maybe with some balloons tied to them?
find some creative cups at the dollar store (like sippy cups) - i'm sure it would be easy to find some with pigs/cows/etc.
*ack* you could also buy those paper plates with the animals on them!! uuuuhhhh... zoo pals plates.
games -- if you could find a burlap sack, you could do a potato-sack race...
or use mason jars with jelly beans -- make cute gingham squares to put on top of the jars before sealing (the same way they dress up homemade jams) - have the kids guess the number of jellybeans.
my mom used to blow up ballons with little pieces of paper in them with numbers. whoever got the winning number got the prize.
on the invites, tell everyone to wear their "farm clothes" (like overalls, gingham or plaid, etc.)
suuuuuch a cute theme!!!!

I think for sure I will make my own farm themed invites and not buy store bought ones. I'm thinking red barns and raffia bows all the way!
Thanks for the websites! I'll be sure to steal some ideas from them and thank you so much for all your excitement! This made me even MORE excited!
