Speak softly and...

... carry a blunt object.

I haven't posted since my laptop returned, so I've figured that I had better inform you of what's happened in my life since then.

Friday, I went to the trivia contest at the public library with my father, Julianna, and five other people, primarily members of Mensa. We got fourth place out of over 25 teams, which isn't too bad. We were only one point away from being tied with third place, though, which was 93 points.

If only the others had agreed with me that "Nana," the dog in "Peter Pan," was a St. Bernard, and not an English sheepdog. Then we would have tied. Oh well. It's all for fun, anyways, really. :D I love the atmosphere.

Saturday, I was a scorekeeper for Quest. *nods* I was assigned to Ottawa High School, Cair Paravel, and another school whose name I can't remember. Cair Paravel ended up getting first in their school classification, which makes me happy. *glee!* After I was done, I went and hanged out with the T-High team, which consisted of Julianna, William, Sai, Kye, and Daniel.

I can easily say that T-High was, by far, the best dressed school there. All the guys were in suits! And Julianna was in a skirt! They should have at least gotten an award for their looks.

Julianna and I ended up rambling about cannibals, due to the book that she had brought with her, until Caroline showed up. Then, we talked about random things, like Jon Stewart, the other teams' scores, how I was a wannabe informant, and the lint on William's suit jacket.

Today, I went into Washburn and researched Teddy Roosevelt, who I am related to distantly. I'm also related to Nixon. I believe he is my sixth cousin twice removed. Or something of that sort. It's my dad that understands genealogy, not me.

Anyways, I really admire Theodore Roosevelt. Specifically for two things: his efforts for conservation and how he continued a speech afte an assassin shot him with a bullet. The bullet, luckily, was slowed down, thanks to the fact that Teddy had folded his over-100-page speech into his shirt pocket that was located over his heart. By the time the bullet got to the manuscript, it was slowed down enough that it only left a superficial wound in Teddy's chest. Teddy continued the speech, even though a blood stain began to cover the front of his white shirt. After the speech, however, he passed out and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Dedication.

"I said not in my backyard, utensils!"
