This Post from cat_macros reminded me of a scary story that was told to my class one Halloween in elementary school:

The Tailypo
Tailypo is a creature of North American folklore, particularly in Appalachia. Alternate spellings include: Taily Po, Taileypo, Tailey Po and Tailipoe. Most often (and especially in older adaptations) the Tailypo legends are simply titled "Tailypo."

This story terrified me as a child and I think the fact that I immediately new what the above macro was referencing after atleast 16 years of not thinking about the story shows how impacted I was.

The Tailypo legend has countless variations, many of which are passed down orally - I do however believe that it has appeared in different forms in several short story collections but I'm not certain.
