I have to begin by mentioning the shocking news of
Rod Donald's death. Shocking in that it took me by complete surprise and I only found out while browsing my friend's lsit this morning. He seemd far to young and fit to go.
It's a sad thing, when anyone dies...

To continue the morbid theme, I saw something ... I don't even know how to describe it. It was at work.
This guy and girl came in a got some sweets or whatever and seemed friendly. When I looked at the guy I could see a sort of red rash coming up the back of his neck, like quite bad acne. I didn't comment.
As they left he put his arm around her shoulders. I saw his hands. There were red and raw and looked like his hand had been melted, just knuckles on the end of a forearm.
Its saddening what happens to people in this world and encouraging that they manage to go on...

I saw an Ad for Serenity on TV last night. One thing it made me wonder was how close the fringe or niche element's of society are to the 'mainstream' in New Zealand. From what I hear Serenity is basically relying on word of mouth overseas, though I may be wrong.
Similarly, in another medium, Disturbed made it to the top of the US album chart for their new album but on their webpage forums the US members complain that there was no advertsing. Australian members say the same thing. I bet if you watch C$ you saw the ads that they smothered the channel with though. Are our 'undergrounds' so close to mainstream that we get general advertising for what elsewhere would have to rely on word of mouth?
I thought that was neat.
The one liners in the serenity trailer were cool and it looked very pretty. But the thing that made me really really wanna go see it was that fleeting glimpse of
Alan Tudyk. This man is a phenomanal actor. In DodgeBall he is an insane pirate, in I, Robot he is a cold robot, in 28 Days he is an insecure fruit. He is brilliant.
Oh yeah, and the angry sidekick from Knight's Tale.

I am already going through my summer school study guides instead of revision *smacks wrist* but I'm really enjoying the religions one that looks at the pieces of of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
However, I was terrified to find that Jack Chick is being used to outline some aspects of the christian section. In case you don't know, go and see
WebSnark for details. They review webcomics and since the Chick stuff is online occasionally they do that too.
They link to a few examples and trust me you don't want to look at too many. Chick is bugfuck insane...
