Roadtrip

Didn't sleep much Thursday night. Not sure why. Got picked up after about three solid hours eyes shut at 8 am. Straight to Devonport to get a WOF allowing to drive to Wellington. Forgot the bottle of homebrew rum the girls had secured (remember this detail). Went back for it. Got to Point Chev to pick up second girl. Finally hit the motorway at about 10 - 10.30.

Get to Wellington approximately nine hours later. Feel like crap. Go to a bar to await the guy we're staying with, bump into the guy who did Cause For Alliance's EP artwork and forget to ask him how the video's coming together. The girl he's with asks me if I'm South African. I wig out. Convince the others to have one drink at Valve but walk out without as there are bands and hence a covercharge we can't afford.

Go back to Adam's and drink beer til 1 am, talking about play scripts and movies. Wake up ten hours later. Go to the botantical gardens, which have far too much vertical space in them, eat sandwiches, play tag. Go to Te Papa and wander around. Go back to Adam's, read while all three of the others nap.

Feel bad for not managing to see Erin while I'm down here.

Get to play early and settle in to enjoy. Liked the first one, Zoo Party, though perhaps a bit flat. Adam's in the second one, Identity Crisis, which is freaking hilarious and absolutely surreal. Awesome. The third, Party Time, is really haunting and unnerving, especially the figure standing way off behind the stage that is occasionally illumiinated from behind accompanied by a piercing whine. Some little things Sara and Catherine may have done different, but still good.

Go home to pick up things, spend nearly two hours convincing the girls to actually leave the room again. Finally go to afterparty for the plays as it was the last night. Afterparty is on Little Havana Street, which is the most awesome place ever. A corrugated iron street on the top floor of a building. You walk up a flight of steps and find the top is divided up into flats that stretch together and... Just really cool.

Have a series of great conversations with groups of very interesting people. Start on the homebrew rum slowly, lots of coke in the mug. Eventually am drunk and therefore put more rum in than earlier. Homebrew is an evil evil being from a dimension of hate and misery, come to terrorise our livers and stomachs. At some point in the evening find myself crouched behind the concrete at the very top of building four stories up watching the people wandering in Cuba Street. There are two girls next to with both legs dangling over the edge. Wonder why I clambered across the roof to this mind numbing position voluntarily.

Walk 30 mins back to Adam's at about 3.30am without any longterm contacts from party, sadness. Throw up a lot before able to sleep. Wake up, tumble into car with belongings, drive for 10 hours before rolling into my house.

Feel sore, hungover and really really tired. It was great fun.

me, party, wellington, theater, alcohol
