Well, today was also another day from hell. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING SO MUCH LATELY?!?!
I was involved in a car wreck today. My mom was driving down Libby St. We approached the 12th St. stop sign and checked to see if it was clear. All looked good minus what we couldn't see around the van. So my mom slowly starts driving her new Honda Accord that she got from me and isn't even going 10 mph yet when suddenly a white pick up truck comes barreling down the street and hits the front of my mom's car, spins around and pops a tire off of the truck on a curb on the other side of the street. We got out to view the damage.
The guy only had the right rear tire come off when it hit the curb due to his breaks locking up, and his truck was originally leaking oil. He volunteered to go to Forrest and pick up a new bed and we'd just pay for it. (We are still contacting insurance companies.)
My mom's car got the worst of the damage. When he hit her it completely knocked out the headlight on the driver's side and damaged the hood, and also moved the bumper over to the left side of a car about a 1/4 of an inch more then it should be. The paint is peeled back on the hood so you can see the metal.
The cops said that they weren't going to put charges on either driver. Sucks ass when he was the one speeding and he left the skid marks in a 360* turn on the road while we didn't have any skid marks since my mom was driving that slow.
We called the police and my dad and shortly after the cops arrived my dad came to help get the tire back on.
This whole time I was having a panic attack. I would burst out crying and then stop for a bit. Then suddenly, the whole crying situation would repeat itself. The cops kept asking me if I needed an ambulance. I was like, no, I'm okay and then there'd be another loud sob. My mom and dad were trying to coach me to breath during the whole ordeal. Finally my dad ended up putting me in his truck with the a/c on since I was frying out in the sun and was about ready to have a heat stroke in the 105* weather.
Now I get to play the taxi driver for my mom since her car is out of service until we get it repaired at the honda dealer. We believe we have the special warrenty on that car that will do whatever or something like that. I'm not quiet sure. I just bought what they recommended me to get for coverage when I had bought that car.
The whole time at the accident scene and at home my mom wanted to cry for getting her new car wrecked. She kept blamming herself for everything and my dad and I slowly helped explain to her that it wasn't her fault.
Now I just hope to have a peaceful night's sleep and have nothing else happen to anyone I know...
