Sakura and Ino discuss life, the universe, and everything.
Okay, just the first one.
----------------------
Sakura sat at the front desk of the clinic. It was a slow day, she was unhappy because that was boring, but happy because the less injuries around the city the better, right?
Still, boredom is boredom. At least the radio was playing some good music today, she hummed along with the even and mellow tempo of the song. "...Outside your house, to make a scene, in my head you grabbed me passionately, but the lights are out, and in an hour I walked on home, in the pouring shower..."
On the notepad in front of her, she had drawn an intricate maze of designs. Sakura had been sitting bored for quite a while now.
She looked up when she heard the door open, praying that someone good was coming in.
"Sakura! Long time no see!" Ino smiled cheerfully at her best friend. Her arms were full of flowers, a array of daffodils, daisies and roses. "I love your coat! Is it new?"
Sakura smiled at her friend. Even if they antagonized each other constantly, Sakura was still always happy to see Ino. "It is! I got it for myself as a present for getting moved up a year in my classes." And maybe Sakura preened, just a bit. After all, Ino was one of the few people she was comfortable around.
"Running errands again?" Sakura asked, noting the flowers.
"Yes, it never ends! I have two more stops after this one." Ino moaned, she like the flower bit, hated the delivery bit. "I have to get them done soon too, I have class in an hour and a half."
"Ew, I've got a bit longer before mine." Sakura sympathized, taking the flowers from Ino and setting them on the desk to pass off to an intern. Oh, the joys of being the boss's daughter.
"You aren't getting away that easy, though. Is anything else new with you?" She felt like she hadn't talked to Ino in forever and a day, and she wanted very much to keep updated.
"Not really, I meet a guy for coffee today. Dear god it was awkward." Ino grimaced at the memory.
"Oho?" This sounded like gossip. Sakura grinned. "Bad awkward, I take it? Did he just stare at your breasts the whole time or something?"
"No, he didn't say anything for the first half of it, and he gave me weird look when I asked him for a lighter." which reminded Ino that she still hadn't smoked today.
"Odd, guy from class, or-?" Sakura prompted, leaning against the front desk as she flawlessly segued into "By the way, you really shouldn't smoke." She had to say it at least once every time they talked.
"No, it was one of those random meeting thing. The conversation only really got going once he told me that he was an artist." Ino told her, ignoring the last comment.
"OH, an 'artist'." Yes, Sakura did do the air quotes. She'd met a few 'artists'. "He didn't ask you to pose nude for him, did he?"
"No, this guy was the most socially awkward person I ever met in my entire life."
"That IS weird. Gonna see him again?
"Don't know, maybe, he was nice in his own way." Ino wished they could stop talking about that particular subject matter. "So, how's your life been?"
Sakura knew a subject change when she saw one. While she was tempted to press the issue, she decided to be benevolent for the time being and let it slide. If anything important happened, Ino would surely tell her.
"Alright... boring." Sakura bit her lip, wondering if she should tell Ino about Mr. Hatake. She decided against. Ino had her secrets, Sakura could have her own.
"Boring...Sakura you should know that I can tell when your hiding something from me, your left eyebrow raises slightly." Ino raised her own eyebrow, she leaned over the counter her blonde hair making a curtain around them.
Sakura leaned back instinctively, her face going red. "It's nothing! There's - um, a guy." YES, that worked. "But nothing has happened yet, we're just talking. So. I'll tell you first if anything happens, of course."
"What did you talk about?" this was an interesting reaction.
"... Stuff."
Even Sakura was aware when those words left her mouth that it was quite possibly one of the lamest responses ever.
"Okay, I shall assume that you've had cyber sex." Ino tired not to laugh, she could crack herself up really easy sometimes.
"INO! Don't be disgusting!" Sakura smacked her friend lightly on the shoulder. Sakura was careful it wasn't too hard, all that working out when she went through her weight-obsession period had left her with significant muscle, even if she didn't show it.
"Hey! Then give me details! I have to assume if I'm not given enough information." Ino laughed at the expression on her friends face.
"You are SUCH a pervert!" Sakura continued to yell, utterly scandalized. Well, maybe not utterly scandalized, but she certainly acted it.
"Hey! I live with my dad! He reads porn magazines and leaves them in the bathroom!"
"Your dad is ALSO a pervert!"
"He's a guy! They are naturally more perverted!
"Only if they have no self-control!" Sakura replied, crossing her arms on her chest. "I'd NEVER date a pervert."
"Ha, any man is a pervert, even monks are perverts I bet." Ino laughed.
Sakura rolled her eyes. "Not everyone thinks the same things as YOU. There are non-perverted guys."
"Really? Then tell me forehead, what men do you know that are not perverted?
Sakura was silent.
"I know a few!" She answered, finally. Notably not naming names. "My dad isn't a pervert."
"Your dad's perverted when it comes to your mom." Ino laughed harder now.
"OH GOD, MENTAL IMAGES I CAN NEVER UN-SEE." Sakura cried, covering her face. "YOU! You-- go! You have an elsewhere to be, don't you? STOP RUINING WHAT INNOCENCE I HAVE LEFT."
"Fine! I have more deliveries anyway, later Forehead-chan!" Ino turned around to leave, she paused though, "I wonder what they're gonna do when they become old." she shrugged and let the door swing behind her.
