[Thread]Happy Birthday, Roomie![Sai, Neji]
Sai secured the brightly covered banner just above the balcony entrance and then deftly hopped off of the stool. He took a few steps back and took in the sight of the words "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" in neon green with blue, pink, and purple confetti images on the banner with a sense of satisfaction. He took a quick sweep of his apartment for anything else that he hasn't brought out or prepared.
He had stood open 'Happy Birthday' Cards on the coffee table and beside the cards were two cone hats of various decoration, noisemakers, a bowl of confetti and a fabric donkey tail. He had hung up a picture of a donkey without a tail on the wall space between their rooms. A bright blue bird pinata sat underneath the donkey picture, already swollen with the candy Sai had stuffed within it.
He knew he had a newly made cake in the fridge(the first one was eaten by Anko and Gaara) that he had retrieved from Anko's apartment a few hours ago. He also had a pitcher of red punch and all the ingredients out for breakfast(eggs, ham and toast) that he will whip up later on.
He had been living with Neji for nearly a month now and has not really interacted with the other man since he had moved in. They did not speak very much during their meals. Sai has been home has become less and less now that he had gotten another job and had more friends to keep up with. When Sai was at home, Neji would be in his room. The incident that happened with Hinata had also made things between them uncertain. So when Hinata had half mentioned Neji's birthday to him when he walked her home the other night, Sai kept that date in his mind. When he came across an article about birthday parties in his magazines Sai realized he had a chance to do something nice for his roommate.
It had been difficult to for Sai to plan a birthday party cause he has never been to one and the only reference he had was the magazine article he had read. Luckily, the stores that he went to had very helpful and kind clerks who helped him figure things out. Sai nearly bought everything in the store that said "Happy Birthday" on it so that he wouldn't miss anything. He also spent a whole day looking for a gift for Neji. He ended up with six gifts that were different enough that Neji will like at least one. Sai has also made precautions too if Neji liked none of the gifts.
Sai took a look at the clock. Everything was ready for Neji when he wakes up, so Sai took a seat on the couch and waited for Neji to come out of his cave room.
