“So what do we do now?”
Frannie had cornered him in his lab and much to his overall fear, had not noticed the thing spewing bright purple smoke over in the corner.
“Duck, I should think.” So saying, he wrapped his arm around her waist and dove to the floor, knocking the breath out of them both.
She opened her mouth to say something, most likely something along the lines of what on earth was he thinking until the realization came that the room was filled with sulfur smelling purple smoke and small metal bits were still raining down on them both.
Frannie blinked a few times. “I didn’t… hear anything.”
Cornelius grinned. “Good. Don’t think we’ll have a problem with mammalian pests for awhile. I don’t think the explosion was nessisary, though.”
“Someone already invented a high pitched pest getting rid of thing, Cornelius.”
“What? Oh! That’s not what it’s supposed to do, though.” He ran a hand through his hair and she saw that if she didn’t snap him out of this early he’d spend the rest of the night blowing things up instead of being downstairs like he was supposed to be.
“Cornelius Robinson. Might I remind you of the guests waiting for the past two hours for you to show your face?”
The eighteen year old stared at her. “They what?”
She sighed. “Robinson Industries. It’s official now.”
“Really? That’s wonderful!” He grabbed her hand and pulled her up after him before pulling her into his arms. “Brilliant, even!”
“Then get down there.”
“Right… right… do I look okay?”
Frannie sighed again. He looked, well, like he always did after being in his lab - disheveled, slightly dirty, but glowing. “You look lovely, Cornelius.”
“Thanks Frannie!” He kissed her before dashing down the steps, taking them two at a time. “Love you!”
She laughed, shaking her head as she made her way down behind him. After all, Frannie Robinson didn’t have that bad of a ring to it.
