And now for another installment of "Wouldn't it be nice if everyone was nice" delusion.

Am I the only person who is offended by the random names that people make up for people they're don't agree with? I have a lot of time on my hands, and it means I end up reading lj communities like stupid_free, and I find entries about communities like cf_hardcore. The fact that there are people who refer to people who have children as breeders and moos and other equally degrading names simply because they've decided to have children when the people of CFH don't want kids is beyond belief. It's almost as if these people have gone, well we can't alienate people because of race, because that's racism, and we can't alienate people because of their sex, or their sexual preference, since (parts of) the world would frown on it, but hey, we can decide to call a whole different bunch of people names because it's our choice not to have children, and therefore they are in the wrong. What is wrong with people? Why must they victimise a group of people. No matter how hard we fight against victimisation and the various -isms we are still going to be faced with yet more hate.

Ah, but I'm kidding myself aren't I. Life isn't nice and bouncy, and people don't like people just because they're people. People do take against people for the smallest of reasons. If they didn't, we wouldn't have firearms, and wars, and murder.

I don't know. Calling people names just seems so childish and unnecessary. Needless cruelty in a world that's full of cruelty anyway.

tolerance, life
