'I wasnt built for comfort, i was built for speed...'

New years was good. Against all predictions. After a lot of angst as to what to do, so as not to let people down, not to go somewhere where i would feel completely uncomfortable, and not to stay in due to parent troubles, we headed up to middlesborough. We saw chris' folks until about 10.30, when we headed over to a house party held by 3 of his old school mates.

There were a lot of funny xcorex kids with silly accents, and even sillier trousers, dancing to music that I surprised myself by liking (punk/ska), I shall endeavour to acquire some more over the next year (when reminiscing, its surprising how dramatically my music collection has grown and diversified last year, which is always good). I have a new external black and shiney hard drive, so this should be easier. I can lend out my own much more easily than chris'.

I drank a bit, contrary to the last post, I can tell this is going to be an interesting one, danced quite a bit, especially when they went through a classic rock set, and talked about high brow things like 'animal farm' and '1984'.

The party was rather sedate, for saying the last house party i attended was yourapocalypse's. However, it was nice, and made chris happy.

We drove home at 5.30 am, getting into Notts at 7, slept until 2, then headed over to the parents for grub. We watched the Jonny Cash film, which was enjoyable, and I listened to dads new Meatloaf CD (mixed bag, tbh, more of the same, but some catchy tracks nonetheless).

Im really looking forward to getting back to Notts, despite not feeling like ive seen much of the derby folks. When im at home i go very introvert, even more so than when Im in Nottingham, and thats not desperately healthy. Ive got through a fuck-tonne of books, written essays, played lots of music, both on the guitar nad the trumpet, and am in need of a healthy dose of socialising. Chris is leaving Nottingham in the not too distant future, ie less than a month, which will be a shock to the system.

middlesborough, house party, nottingham, new years day, new years eve
