break was lovely. i was very happy that i got to spend time with family and friends. it also was a nice chance to decompress and not have to stress. when i got back people said i looked less stressed and happier, so that's good. haha
i really enjoy being here. i like having my schedule, and i love dance class, and most of my other classes. i'm at a really good place in my life right now, and i want to make sure i make the best of this. i'm excited because i get to choreograph the dance of one of my best friend's senior recital! yayay.
wednesday night i performed a modern dance for the music school's president festival. there were seven dances in all, and they were paired with seven silent films. the music was composed for the films, and then given to the choreographers, even though the choreographers had never seen the films. so at the festival the choreographers saw the movies for the first time, and the audience got to compare what the music was intended for, and how the choreographers interpreted it. it's a cool concept, and the music was live so that was pretty sweet.
i've sold my soul to the cua production once again[Sunday in the park with george]. which opens tomorrow[today]. it's frustrating b/c i didn't even sign up for crew, but since half the crew didn't show up and the other half doesn't do much i volunteered to help my friend emily who's stage managing. I ended up blowing up images of the dogs and the monkey by freehand to foam board to be cut out for the painting. and then i ended up cutting the edges of the cardboard Georges for Putting it Together. then i had to fix the cut out that Dot is standing behind in the opening number, and paint it to look like her outfit. in black and white, because the whole set/cast is in black and white, except george, which is a really cool concept. I was in the theatre from 3:30-12:30 with a half hour break at 8:00. I worked almost non-stop that entire time. ....*Facepalm*
i hope i get wasted after the show tomorrow. or at least pleasantly tipsy
