That was the January that Was

I haven’t been posting much, for a variety of reasons. Mostly, life has been keeping me busy, in what I think (hope?) is a good way.

This past weekend I went up to Genericon XX at my beautiful alma mater, RPI. It reminds me how cold and snowy Upstate New York gets - it was snowing most of the weekend. On the upside, nobody freaked out, which say something about that steely New York competance. Down here in the Old Dominion, the half-inch of snow Troy got would have things closed for a week. Not that I’d mind, mind you.

Genericon itself was, as always, a blast. When else do I get a chance to play Game of Thrones, Twilight Imperium, and Shadowrun all in one weekend? Never, I tell you! Pictures will be getting posted as soon as I get my rear in gear. I crashed with Soze and Doug (thanks again!), and while we often passed in the night, I still got to see them for a late-night Bob’s run on Saturday, and a pre-departure dinner at the Albany Pump Station. They also got me to play Rayman’s Raving Rabbitz, on the Wii. This is something Tom had tried to get me to play at his place, and it didn’t really grab me. Soze pointed out they stuck me with one of the least amusing games. She put me into the anti-rabbit combat stages, which involves fragging bunnies with a plunger gun. I was giggling wildly. I want a Wii now….if only I could *find* one.

Other things in life are….interesting. Three classes this semester might be a touch intense, but I’ve found something of a groove. Go to work, come back to the house, spend some time exercising, and then grab the car to head to class. Yes, you read that right, loyal readers. Exercise. Okay, five miles a day on my bike, with a stationary trainer. It’s not going to turn me into Fabio (won’t turn me blonde) and isn’t really taking off that many pounds (yet, I hope), but I do feel better. And, I can tell it’s making something of a difference. Once I’ve been off for a few days,  I feel like I’m working a lot harder to get going again. I’m trying to be consistant above all else, though. At least 5 miles a day, which I can do in about 20 minutes, and 30 minutes of riding (5-7ish miles, depending) if I’m feeling ambitious and energetic. I’ve ridden over a hundred miles this month. I realize this is wussy compared to some people…I consider it progress.

And that’s the January that was (or shortly will have been, technically). Peace out, peeps.
