[Optional] Previous RP History: N/A.
Personality:
Tsuzuki Asato initially appears to be quite the joke, risking tardiness to purchase Cinnabuns and, upon being caught, sobbing at the feet of his higher-ups. Fairly excessive. And while he is sincerely a man of extremes, they are circumstantial, especially those of the melodramatic nature. When human lives and field work interact, he is better able to subdue these shows of emotion and assume the serious persona expected of a Guardian of Death.
He is a very caring individual whoe deeply wishes to protect everyone -friends, strangers and foes alike- and, in his mind, failure equates nearly to causing the harm. This twisted logic was borne of blistering guilt for a past wrong that resurfaces anew with each recent harm he has a hand in causing or failing to prevent. There is so much self hatred that he has difficulty reasoning rationally, despite the fact that he is capable of comprehending how little another person may have been able to do as his substitute.
The aforementioned conflicts refresh old guilt, reopening infected injuries and threatening to send him into a spiral of depression. During down periods, he is apt to smile forcefully and wave off any assistance or direct questioning. He prefers not to share his difficulties for he feels that discussing it will somehow lead to a loss of friends. Yes, his logic continues to falter here. Since he and his many bullies have despised his being so thoroughly, Tsuzuki believes the feeling might spread to others who "wrongly" (according to his thought processes) enjoy his company. And, in lying to them, he further diminishes his self esteem, believing their kind words to be the result of his deceit.
Despite these deep wounders, he is very optimistic and loving in regards to other people. He tends to promise the impossible and, honestly, is very serious while doing so. And when someone is harmed, he is very nurturing or protective, as applies to the situation. His fury is not at a distance in these situations, man reacting as though the foe had challenged him personally.
Tsuzuki is a serious slacker as well. He prefers to find the easy way out of paperwork and, frequently, one will find him "Out to Lunch" or napping on the job (which may equate to the same thing). He is childish. Very. Not only is he quick to tears, but also
likely to react to immature insults by shooting back his own -- unless the insult genuinely hurt. Then he's going to sulk. In a corner. Prepare the mops as well. His sweet tooth is another reflection of his youthfulness for, while he is generous in general, there better be a surplus of snacks if one expects him to share cake.
One could say that he is quite feminine in his fondness for gardening, cooking and ballroom dancing, though these loves were taught to him by his sister, Ruka. His continuing of the hobbies are a way of remembering her. In a sense, he is trapped in the past, be it positive or negative memories, which is to be expected of the elderly and deceased. He is also quick to call items or individuals "cute". Full-grown man, ahem.
Appearance:
http://www.nanoda.com/public/wallpapers/tsuzuki-asato-wallpaper-big.jpg Abilities:
[*] The ability to heal rather quickly (both a natural ability and ability of a shinigami)
[*] The ability to survive most lethal injuries, though he weakens with each recovery
[*] As a human, he was also unable to age (though this is common to all shinigami)
[*[ The ability to call twelve Shikigami to his aid with a mere call
[*] As a shinigami, many common abilities are at his command, such as hovering, invisibility and becoming immaterial so as to pass through solids.
[*] The ability to perform minor Fuda-based spells (requires Fuda and time to recite chant)
- Create copies of himself or others with appropriate personality, speech, etc
- Force field
- Unspecified offensive attacks; perhaps chi-based
THAT ALL SAID, since Tsuzuki is now to be "human" (loose term) once more in game, he will only retain:
[*] Directed Healing: All his pre-death abilities, which will include the ability to recover from lethal injuries, though, with each further wound, the speed of recovery will lessen (read: he can die). He also doesn't show signs of age, which is perhaps a more visible effect of his unhuman healing abilities. This healing ability automatically applies itself to its host and strongly so, but when directed outwards, the effects are significantly weaker in that only greenery benefits.
[*] Ofuda magic: Minor spells which draw energy from the caster (in most situations). Most require murmured or "thought" chants, but one can overcome this nuisance by specifically preparing slips with the chant imbued. Tsuzuki rarely prepares his slips, primarily out of laziness, though he has done so in pressing situations. This "magic" is customizable, but with each custom gain, it may demand more effort and time.
[*] Shikigami: This will not be voluntarily available to Tsuzuki. As he gains back his abilities, he will find himself capable of communicating as a master and his shikigami should (not necessarily through words), but I prefer that this not be an option under normal circumstances. When the circumstances press upon him desperately, perhaps, he will have the ability to summon either Byakko or Suzaku.
Byakko and Suzaku are summoning shikigami, which means that they will rush to Tsuzuki's aid following the chanting of an ancient spell. While most masters command and dominate, Tsuzuki's relationship with his shikigami is more of a firm friendship that promises mutual benefits to either party. Because of this, there are several exceptions to the rules of master-servant relations with shikigami. For instance, a beast will normally overpower its master given the opportunity, but Tsuzuki's shikigami have been shown to disregard this logical choice of action.
As for the shikigami's abilities, I will focus on Byakko and Suzaku since they will be the primary ones utilized (if at all).
Suzaku: When called to her master's aid, Suzaku appears as a gargantuan pheonix. She is fiercely protective and loyal, though her protectiveness often puts her at odds with Tsuzuki's desire to protect others more than himself. Her attacks are fire-based and rather destructive. Summoning this shikigami, as with others, draws a massive amount of energy.
Byakko: When called, Byakko appears in the human world to be a large white tiger (though his size varies at will). This shikigami is more easily commanded, eager to protect its master and display its abilities. His attacks are largely water-based. As with Suzako, summoning Byakko demands much energy.

Uhm, hello?
[The voice sounds mildly uncertain and, when the video flickers to life, it's focused on a man's nose, device clearly too close. Apparently, this one is not well-acquainted with technology.]
Is this a joke? I mean -
[He wouldn't put it past certain individuals, though it would be unusual timing, to say the least.]
Can... someone tell me what's going on?
[Fortunately, the video remains unable to broadcast the rather unmanly expression accompanying that bewildered introduction- and the video flicks off.]
Third Person Sample:
Unnaturally-colored eyes traced the red as it cut down his arm, dangling above the metallic floor and abruptly plummeting. Tsuzuki blinked at the splatter and pressed two digits to his self-inflicted injury that, shockingly, wasn't knitting up into smooth flesh.
Was it true, then? Had he been in a coma all these years, imagining that terrible childhood and adolescence; the murders and suffering; the repeated attempts alternating with absolute darkness; and the afterlife that shed light on what living should have meant. Was it all for naught? Was his mind truly that convincing and cruel? Quite possible, considering that ti- wait, was that real?
Which portions were real?
His eyes narrowed, unconvinced by the story offered to him. It is fairly possible to suppress a Shinigami's abilities given the right incentive and correct spell, though he though he'd... finished Muraki. Of course, he wasn't exactly in the proper mindset. And why all this when the man wasn't a threat in his previously unconscious state? Such an elaborate mind game certainly would be characteristic of a such a twisted individual, admittedly.
Fingers reached for his watch, immediately strapping it over his right wrist and the ugly scars; clearly, that wasn't a dream. The next item seemed to be a... cell phone? Oooooh, one of those fancy new ones that tightwad won't allow their budge to cover! Interested eyes widened at the communicator, fingers jabbing experimentally (and none-too-gently) at various buttons as one unfamiliar with texting would do. And, yes, Tsuzuki wasn't precisely a techie.
A particular muscle shifted as he moved to slip it into his pocket, dragging his attention to the cut that had persisted. Crazy or not, the unpleasant tingling drew a faint emotional pleasantness.
