i already have to change the channel any time mccain starts speaking. the current president has made me do this for almost eight years already, please america, don't make me do it for another four. ugh.
despite his desire to fine *grinds teeth* current, good standing, illegal immigrants, and despite the fact that he is not an opponent of the death penalty, i am now going to keep my fingers crossed that Obama will be our next president.

I dunno that it's possible to be "good standing" and "illegal". Being here illegally is, by definition, against the law. I don't have an answer for the situation, though. I can see both sides- The Powers that Be have looked the other way for years because we "need" these workers (I agree- we do need them) but there's this incredibly long list of people who are trying to immigrate legally and they can't, plus a whole bunch of ancillary issues that make this a really complex problem with no one-size-fits-all answers.
On the death penalty, there are crimes which are egregious enough for me to be okay with it. But I want a smoking gun and full confession. I'll agree that in many cases, it's nothing but a distraction and a waste of money. Throw 'em in prison. Throw away the key. No more 20 years of appeals.
I like Obama. I like Hillary, but I'm opposed to the idea of Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton just in principle.
