This kind of cold is fine to walk around in bundled up. I love it. But when it seeps into your apartment overnight and you wake up with itchy cold feet and hands, it's not so much fun. I told Chris not to use the heater last night. He said he'd tried leaving it off before on an energy saving mindset, and he woke up cold as hell. I didn't think it would be that crazy! I'm never going to tell him that again. I wanted to turn the heater on in the morning, but how the hell do you turn on the heater??? We have central heating that looks a lot like central a/c. There is no air conditioning in this apartment, but who needs it?
The airport did something stupid when I landed in Oakland and put two flights of luggage on one carousel, so a large crowd of people gathered all looking for bags that took twice as long to get. Why would they do that?
Saying good bye to my family, particularly my sister, was hard.
Chris' dogs are scruffy as all hell, I haven't seen them this way. They'll get groomed soon enough.
So this apartment is nice. I couldn't ask for more. My room has two closets. One for me, one for my girlfriend. Carpet where there should be carpet. There is this crazy clothes washing/drying machine just sitting in the middle of the kitchen though, stamped with the words MADE IN ITALY. Why is it there? Our landlord is really excited about it. Chris told him we might want it moved, but he'd wait until me and then Irina got here and see what we think. It's taking up half of our kitchen space and takes four hours to wash and dry one load of laundry... the laundry room in the complex is the building next to ours...
There is an incredible view from the balcony. We look west into north bay, and see some mountains (hills?) in the background. In the evenings, the sun sets over the hills.
I brought Cuban coffee, but our cafetera is rusted. We'll have to get a new one.
I NEED A JOB SO BAD. I have $0.59 in my bank account, and $14 in my pocket! My paycheck won't come until next week!! SURPRISE!!!! I wasn't too excited.
There are a lot of little things you start to realize, don't come with a new house. Like the trashcan in the bathroom. The kitchen or bathroom rags. Furniture. Hm. I kinda miss those things.
I should stop wasting time and get to submitting my resume everywhere. Then I'll walk to the shopping center nearby and see if anyone needs help.
Later!
