Appearance:
The initial impression that most people will get from Soul is that most of his features appear haphazardly tossed together and make him look either artificial-- or Albino, minus the pale skin. Inquiries of how much bleach that took to get his hair like that or smart remarks about his eye color and the like are likely to make him show off his anything-but-subtle jagged set of sharp teeth. Soul has a habit of showing off his teeth, usually in his default toothy grin, but in the instances in which he's not grinning, one might want to retake their actions.
Soul really just wears anything that he can throw on in the morning while half asleep. He usually wears darker colors, but wears his share of brighter colors as well (i.e; an orange t-shirt with a black jacket worn over it), and tends to wear hoodies and jackets over anything he's wearing.

Personality:
Soul is very laid back, or moreso likes to keep that nonchalant exterior, in front of others. In a group, he really wouldn't mind just mingling with the backdrop, as long as he keeps his 'cool', but doesn't mind showing off every now and then, either. He likes being included in the action, too, though, and although he's not very much of a 'spotlight' person, when there's word of a fight, or a chance to look 'cool', Soul will dive in with close to zero thought. More of this irrational behavior is seen when he's paired off with his eccentric friend, Black Star.
He doesn't like to think, much less feel much of anything, either, if he can help it. He doesn't believe in breaking his back for much, he could care less, for things like his academic success, and likes trying to find a shortcut, easier way around things. Soul is a procrastinator, and likes to keep anything he does to the bare minimum. He really makes a point of just not trying, his own private form of rebellion of sorts, possibly to his strictly disciplinary childhood. Still, Soul finds that scraping by with the bare minimum isn't always ideal as it's made out to be, and although he's bound to learn sometime, he hasn't quite yet.
When it comes to his friends, Soul is compatible for whatever will benefit the group, ready to pull whatever he has to if any are threatened. He is more or less acceptant of others, but is primarily devoted to the ones that he is close to, content to stay within that group of people rather than say, sell himself out for public attention. Soul isn't much of a people person, and sometimes is just there for the sake of being there.
Although generally amiable, Soul has an affinity for his 'cool' exterior, and close to hates, showing his rawer nature. He also will avoid any mention of his past, the word 'piano', or anything to do with music and expressing yourself and the like, verging on being defensive at the mention of them, the closest he can really get to losing his 'cool'. The only one that has successfully delved past this far enough (far too far enough for his taste) is Maka Albarn, his friend from middle/high school.

History:
Soul was born into a prestigious, musical family. The younger of two sons, Soul was taught at an early age to mold him into the perfect pianist his parents had so anticipated, like his older brother violinist, Wes.
As a child, Soul was homeschooled, and took private musical lessons, the moment that he had the slightest handle on the concept of sight-reading, being pushed to pursue advanced repertoire for his age, and played in national, international competitions, anything that his parents could get him into, and for a while, this ideal son of theirs was living their musical prodigy dream.
It was a short-lived dream, though, for the stress of living up to this reputation, form trying to perfect himself for his parents, trying to match, if not surpass the talent of his older brother, had built up over the years, and one day, Soul just stopped playing, refused to play.
This news had left his parents asbolutely mortified. After all the efforts they had invested into their son, their Modern-Day Mozart, their son had even fathomed the idea of cutting out short on his destined career as a performing pianist. Least to say, his parents didn't take this news very well, and were stricter with the developing adolescent, and pushed him into yet another competition. The audition had gone fairly well, enough for him to get in, but when it was Soul's turn to play, in front of the international staff of judges, punched away at the keyboard for the approximate time of his piece.
Soul never touched the piano after that, the time between middle school and towards the end of high school, initially a private district that he performed poorly at and demanded to be sent to a public district instead, to which request his parents abided to, desiring to see less of their renegade child as much as they could without crossing the borderline of downright neglect.
Once he was allowed to attend the public district and obtained this much-desired freedom, Soul felt far more comfortable and his performance was fairly consistent during high school. Although, once, at the mention of perhaps picking up piano, minus the competitions, he'd reached dangerously close to dropping out, at one point, but pulled his progress towards his year and some of high school. He was able to pull through mostly due to Maka Albarn, head of their class, who had befriended him between that middle/high school time period, and has lost contact with her since. Soul finally ended up at Evergrove, mostly because of the wealth his family possessed, and it scarcely being skin off their noses, sent him off with relief to see that he wouldn't have to be dealt with again, if not financially, then nothing else.
