So school is done. Somehow I managed to get (almost) everything finished.
Lets see...
Japanese:
The Japanese final was not so hot. The part that bit me in the ass was that there were these partial sentences in Japanese with only the verb missing where you have to correctly conjugate the verb so that it fits the English translation that's given. The things was, on the chapter tests, the verb you had to conjugate was given in parenthesis at the end of the sentence, but on the final? ... not so much. So basically, I missed at least 3 such sentences, despite knowing the correct conjugation, because I couldn't remember the verbs in Japanese. Bleah. Much suckage. I think I did okay on the other parts though, so I'm hopeful that I did well enough so as to not torpedo the A I was getting in that class before the final.
Calculus:
I accidentally slept most of Tuesday away, and wound up calling my Calc teacher and asking if I could take the final during his other finals the next day, (He had okayed this with some other students, I wasn't just asking out of the blue.) and said that was fine. (Yes, this math teacher rocks... and not just because of this too.) So I studied that evening and most of the night, and wound up taking the final at 7:30 yesterday morning. I think I did okay on this... I had time to work on all of the problems (always a good sign), and there were only two where the answer looked sort of strange, but I didn't have time to go back and check my work. So hopefully I did good enough.
Ceramics:
I was heading home from my Calc final (trying not to fall asleep at the wheel) when I realized that all that Ceramics stuff I kept putting off 'cause the Ceramics final meeting wasn't until the very end still wasn't done... and that "the end" was actually the next day (today) at 2:30. I spent all morning running from one store to the next to find something to use work as the candle cups on my octopus candelabra (I eventually found a bunch of sea shells). Then I hijacked my mother (with the excuse that I was probably not safe to drive) and had her chauffeur me around while I collected all the stuff I needed to "
pit fire" some of my ceramics pieces. (Home Depot failed me by not having small metal trash cans). Then, after retrieving my boyfriend from work, we headed to my parents house and atttempted to coax the trashcan full of charcole briquettes, drift wood, seaweed, mesquite chips (bad! idea), orange peels, and pottery into lighting. (He eventually had to go buy lighter fluid--I think we used more than half of the bottle.) They pit fire pieces actually turned out really well, but by the end of the night, the pieces, the trash can, my parents house, my boyfriend and I, and our clothes, hair and skin all smelled strongly of mesquite. We got back to our house at about 11:30, I fell into bed as soon as I finished polishing the pit fired pieces. I slept poorly because my hair smelled so strongly that every time I was remotely facing it the smell woke me up.
This morning I got up when my boy friend's alarm went off at 6am and dragged myself into the bathroom where I spend almost 5 hours finishing up my
chimenea, took a shower and headed over to school with everything but the chiminea (which my boyfriend had agreed to help me move on his 1-2pm lunch break), to see if my the last of my stuff was out of the
kilmn. Once there I happened to notice the chalk board which informed me that the the final meeting for my class was Thursday, May 15th at 12:30... (not at 2:30 like our class was). So I rushed home and, all by my lonesome, manhandled the chiminea down into the car. It wasn't pretty, let me tell you. The thing is about 3.5' high, quite heavy (it's made of clay, duh!) and really akward. I made it, but boy was my back unhappy about it. (I had to scoot along on my butt with the thing in my lap to get it down the stairs.) I drove it back to school and had my teacher come look at it in the car. (No way in hell I was carrying it the 150 ft to the class room). Apparently he had checked out all my other stuff while I was panicking about getting the chiminea. He said he was just waiting for the chimenea and that that "pushed me over the edge." I was so relieved that I forgot to ask him "over the edge" of what? But you know what, I don't even really care. That was my last school thing to do for this semester and now it's DONE! Woo!
So yeah... this semester is finally over! ...And now I shall sleep. Forever.
