To Ob or Not to Ob? That is the LJ Username Dilemma.
Okay... so, for anyone who is unaware, I am Obfuscation. This has been my internet handle for quite a while, but when I created this journal, obfuscation and obfuscationbaby were both unavailable. I dug out a thesaurus and, after a lengthy argument with the LJ signup page, eventually compromised with dissimulatory. ...And dissimulatory I have been ever since. Which was fine. Really. It wasn't something I even thought about. But then, a few days ago, the plot thickened. While bored and poking around, I discovered that obfuscationbaby was now available (presumably having been deleted and purged). I, of course, immediately snatched it up, initally thinking I'd make it into a secondary writing/art/fandom obsession journal. However, victoria p's recent poll made me realize that I tend to think of the people on lj by their username, and, despite this detour into other names, I still think of myself as "Ob" or "Obfuscation" and want others to know me by that name too.
Now here's the thing. LJ tells me that I can change my username, but it will cost me $15 and may cause confusion for you guys. So... should I switch, confusion and all, or should I just leave well enough alone even though I'm mildly dissatisfied with this name, now that one of the ones I really want is available?
