Brass casting, anyone?

Sunday night I constructed my first kiln for melting brass and aluminum. It now has to cure for a week, then we will do the first firing next weekend. Since the recipes I found for making the refractory were all different and contradicted each other, I just made a guess at the mixture, so it will either work well or explode. Either way should be lots of fun:)

After the initial shakedown burn, I'll be starting simple with lost-wax castings and work my way up to sand casting. Woohoo!
