Cecil arrived promptly after leaving Terra and Rosa, with only a brief delay for the time it took to find the correct room crystal. He hadn't been sure what he'd find -- maybe for the boy to be as worse for wear as Terra, barely able to sit up and talk -- so he'd hardly expected to narrowly avoid being skewered by a pint-sized sword.
"Should you really be swinging that around in here?" Cecil asked, stepping back and smiling sheepishly. At least if he was well enough to be on his feet and practising, that was a good sign, but that one of the Onion Knight's arms was bandaged didn't escape his notice.
"I apologise for arriving unannounced like this, but... Terra was concerned about you. She told me what happened."
"Ah! Hi!" Oops. Hadn't meant to almost stab Cecil there. The boy returned his sword to its sheath, looking exactly like he might if caught with a hand in the cookie jar. "I was being careful..."
Well he was. Except for that almost stabbing Cecil thing. When the topic of Terra was brought up he sighed quietly, fidgetting.
"I didn't mean to fight her but- there wasn't any other way. Kefka did something to her and-"
He trailed off there, shaking his head. "I didn't mean to hurt her."
"It's all right. No one blames you for what you had to do, least of all Terra. She's safe now, and Rosa's tending to her as we speak." To get a closer look at whatever injuries Onion Knight might have, Cecil had to kneel down on one knee. His being one of the tallest warriors of Cosmos and the boy being the shortest sometimes had its disadvantages. "Do you mind if I take a look at your arm? I can heal it for you."
He nodded, not entirely convinced. It had happenned before, it was something he should have been prepared for. But he looked up when he heard an unfamiliar name. "Rosa- is she your friend? So she's safe, too?"
After a moment of consideration, he held out his arm. "It's not gonna sting or anything, is it?"
"Rosa is my wife," he said, as he set about gently removing the bandaging from his arm so he could treat the wound. "She was one of the captured, but I managed to rescue her, with some help." It was still a little strange to talk about her that way, when around a month ago he didn't even know she existed, but he was starting to get used to the idea. Slowly.
He unwound the last of the bandages. Cecil had seen Terra's Esper form before, but even he was surprised when he saw the claw marks there. Making her hurt one of her closest friends like that... Kefka had much to answer for. He shook his head at the boy's question. "White magic doesn't hurt -- entirely the reverse. Just hold your arm still for a moment."
He held his hand over the wound and closed his eyes, drawing on his magic. Healing energy surged into his hands and he released the Cura spell into the boy's arm, where it would mend the cut and any other smaller injuries he would have.
"Your...wife? Wow, I didn't know you were married."
He watched the cuts on his arm close, a little amazed by the white magic. It seemed familiar somehow, like something he should know, but it wasn't something he understood. He moved his arm around once the healing was done,
"Neither did I. You can imagine how surprised I was when she told me. It seems I have much to relearn about myself." Cecil drew his hands back, smiling at his reaction. "I'm not as powerful as Rosa when it comes to white magic, but your arm should be all right now. Were you hurt anywhere else?"
"So she just showed up from your world? I wonder why they need so many of us now. I wonder if someone'll show up from where I'm from." He considered that for a few seconds but was still too amazed by the healing magic to think about it too much. "She's even better at it than you are? Wow!"
He moved his arm around a little more, testing it. "I think I'm okay."
"Tidus, Terra and I all have friends from our respective worlds, so maybe you will, as well. But... Despite the fact my brother has been returned home, replacing him on Chaos' side is a friend from my homeworld. His name is Kain." Any happiness he showed when talking about Rosa was sobered a little at mention of Kain. It was like Golbez all over again... But at circumstances hadn't forced them to fight one another, yet, and for that he was grateful. He straightened up to stand again, nodding. "I'm only a paladin. My specialty is protection -- at least, in this form -- and Rosa's is healing." Not that his skills at defending others were all that needed here, when most fights were one-on-one, but the memories of how he used to fight were slowly coming back, too.
Cecil seemed satisfied with his answer. "Just don't overdo it for a while. No amount of healing can make up for rest."

"That was pretty cool!"
