Yeah, I'm fine. Just feel like I've got a massive hangover... remind me to never start drinking.

Take it from Claire. Worrying about my random disappearances doesn't do much. I'm about as stubborn about dying as you are.

So how'd the battle go? Do you remember any of it?

All I remember is this... gem thing on the back of my hand, and I had two swords, and moved a lot faster than I ever did in my life.

...I spent most of it underestimating my own agility and wound up tangled in one of those hedge-walls.

[She'll mask the chuckle for you, Chris, but you can tell she's humored by it.] It's one way to stay out of trouble.

So... you were a swordsman, too, huh? [She shakes her head lightly] I'm still not sure what to make of that whole thing.

[He's STILL scratching at the back of his neck.]

Yeah, but I think I might've been allergic to something in those bushes...

I guess... a really fast one. And with my build, speed just does not mix well. Me neither... wonder who found my gun... I can tell it had been fired some, but didn't find it until after the battle.

You sure you're all right? Rebecca's back, so she might be able to help you out.

[She nods at that, thoughtful] I met the guy I traded with at the time; I can only guess about how unhappy he was about it.

I'm fine. [He forces his hand down from the affected area of his nervous habit.] I saw... I'm going to guess she's already talked to you some?

[Shrugs.] I don't know. You're one of the best hand-to-hand fighters I've come across, Jill. Don't count yourself out that easy.

Yeah. She's from the same point as before--after Arklay--but she doesn't remember being here, or anything I told her while she was here.

[She smiles slightly again, shrugging the compliment off a bit and shaking her head.] Some of the people here... they're beyond anything back home. Anything human, anyway. I could use a sword, but I could also use magic--and my stamina was... crazy.

[He nods a bit, looking more thoughtful about everything that's happened recently than normal.]

Yeah... but hey, nobody is more resilient than you, Jill. Neither of us would be here if you weren't.

It goes both ways, partner. [A quiet laugh] It's probably safe to say neither of us would last very long without the other, huh? [Joking smile here--he lasted three years without her, after all. She's always been convinced that he's made of tougher stuff than she'll ever be.]
