The person I faced was Kain Highwind. He fights with a spear and can jump very high and very fast. He had some kind of...darkness ability. It made his attacks hurt worse than they would have otherwise.

...I also encountered a dragon, one I call Interceptor, but we didn't fight. He took Kain away after I defeated him.

[He sounds rather fascinated by that, but not overly so. An ordinary dragon is not the same as the Great Dragon, a member of the manakete race.]

No, I don't think so. There are no neutral parties here. Since he was helping Kain, I think he must have been on Chaos' side.
