[Background] Although the beginnings of Yuan’s life are shrouded in ambiguity, one can infer the half-elf suffered a trying and difficult childhood. Despite the canon not giving concrete evidence as to the birthplace of Yuan, it is implied that, along with Mithos and Martel, Yuan was born in the elven village of Heimdall. When the Kharlan War began, Mithos, Martel, and Yuan were kicked out of the village because of their half-elven blood. Half-elves were thought of as inferior and a disgust to the elven race. Humans scoffed and abused them and elves wanted nothing to do with the half-breeds. Neither race would accept that the half-elves were just as much of one thing as the other. Neither race would accept that they had common blood. The three began traveling around the world, trying to bring acceptance to their looked-down-upon race, whether that acceptance be from humans or elves. Somewhere along the line, as the war progressed and things became dangerous, Yuan and Martel’s relationship morphed into something more. The two half-elves, bonded by a common past and an ever-lasting friendship, began a romantic relationship with one another. As the war continued, and a fourth member joined the group (this man being of pure-human blood), the four came into possession of special artifacts known as Cruxis Crystals.

These glistening gems halted their physical aging, allowing them to continue their efforts to end the war, find acceptance, and hopefully bring about some form of peace. Kratos’ involvement in the trio is a mystery to many, due to the fact that, at that time, all but few humans detested half-elves. Even four thousand years later the same rang true. Despite it all, the four became closely knit-together, tied together by flourishing friendships and a strive to end prejudice. Kratos taught Martel’s younger brother magic, sword-skills, and everything he knew, and Martel continued to give support to the three men, hoping that they would soon become the faces the world knew as heroes. As the war waged on, the Great Kharlan Tree, the cornerstone and source of all mana in the world, was slowly dying. Things became urgent. Eventually, Mithos became so adapt in the art of magic, and so determined to find peace and save the world that looked down upon him, he sought aid from the Summon Spirits. Along with the help of Kratos, Yuan, and Martel, he became a Summoner. With this new power, Mithos hoped to encourage a treaty between the two sides.

He wanted to end the foolish war and create a better world for his sister and newfound friends. Along the way, Yuan and Martel’s relationship continued to prosper-soon, the two half-elves became engaged. As proof of this promise to one another, each wore a small ring with the letters Y and M etched on the inside. When things finally began looking up, it all came crashing down. When the war seemed to be at an end, a treaty being in the signing process, Martel was killed by an assassin hired by a noble who was vehemently against the ending of the war. Grief-stricken, Yuan retreated from the people he once called friends, unable to cope with the loss of his new fiancé. The treaty that had just been put into place shattered and all hopes of peace ended. Overcome with sorrow and enragement at the humans who killed his sister, Mithos allowed his madness to slowly engulf him. No longer would he use his plethora of power for good, but instead for destroying the wretched humans who killed his benevolent sister.

As history goes, Mithos discovered a means of restoring Martel. Her soul had been captured inside the Cruxis Crystal, and all he would need to do would be to fuse the perfect body with the crystal. He would be able to have his sister once more, safe and alive. Of course, Mithos needed the perfect person to make the fusing of the body, Great Seed of the Kharlan tree, and his sister’s Cruxis Crystal possible. Time was running out and Mithos took action. A group called the Desians came up, the ritual of the Chosen One of Regeneration began, and history began taking notes. Enraged by Mithos’ foolhardy attempts to disrupt Martel’s eternal peace, and to bring havoc to the world once more and destroy everything to bring back Martel, Yuan broke away from the man he once called a friend. Yuan began his own resistance-the renegades. Having to keep such an organization secret, he allowed his second-in-command, a loyal man named Botta, to be the ‘public head honcho’.

The last thing Yuan needed was to let Mithos, now dubbed Yggdrasill, know he was a double-agent. A double agent because he still ‘worked alongside Mithos’ as one of Cruxis’ seraphim from the end of the Great Kharlan War. He was a double-crosser and he needed to be careful about how he thwarted Mithos’ insane plans. All went well for many, many years, with his Renegade work behind the curtains, until one blonde Chosen, a thick-headed boy, and a ‘friend’ from so long ago tried to end it all. After being forced to reunite with his old ‘friend’ Kratos, Yuan’s apathy began to break, ever so slightly. Still enraged at the man for siding so easily with Mithos and throwing away righteousness, it took much effort for Yuan to finally accept the man once more, albeit a bit bitterly.

…And of course, right when he got around to perhaps-forgiving the man after seeing to it that Mithos was silenced and his vain attempts to disrupt Martel’s slumber were thwarted, that bastard had to leave with Derris Kharlan. And that’s where Yuan will awake-after a particularly annoying day in the Renegade office, having heard word from one of the fieldsman about Kratos’ ascent.
[Personality] To many, and most, Yuan is a cold and apathetic person. An all-business type of guy. He’s oftentimes seen as cold and seemingly emotionless to those who are not well-acquainted to him. Despite the veil of apathy, he is quick on his feet, calculating, and polite. He does not strive to make relationships-only those that are necessary to his job as Renegade leader. Being the leader of such an organization has instilled in him a sense of justice and duty. He’s a very serious person with a small sense of humor, that’s often times dry and silent. To many, he’s unlikable and a person to avoid at all costs. A few thousand years of agony and things not going your way tends to do that to a person.

Deep down, however, Yuan is a mix between an idealist and a realist. He sees things as they are; he is not deluded by wishes to bring back Martel-he has come to grudgingly accept, over the years, that her death is final and no amount of wishing can bring her back without punishment. On the flip side, he’s an ever-hoping individual who strives for peace and acceptance amongst humans, despite his engraved distaste for the discriminating bunch. He will deal with anyone with a stoic demeanor and wit.

Although Yuan may come off to all as an extremely locked up, withdrawn ‘asshole’, deep down, he’s still the same person he was before his fiancé was murdered. He’s loyal to a fault and does have his moments of true compassion. He’ll fight to the end for something he believes in, and he’ll protect those that are close to him no matter what the sacrifice. After all, he did practically stalk Kratos and the others to Origin’s Seal only to catch Kratos the moment he fell. That’s dedication, right there. Sure, he may hold grudges and he may be snarky and snappy and just all around an unlikeable person, but everyone has their moments and their darkness. He’s not a people person, obviously, but he isn’t a recluse. He knows people well, just prefers to distance himself from them. He isn’t socially awkward, but at the same time, he isn’t a social-butterfly.

All in all, he just sticks to his own agenda and prefers when things go his way.
[Specialties/Abilities] Where to start… Well, his main type of ‘magic’, if you will, is lightning, so that’s always a good starting place. His spells range from instantaneous bursts of electrical orbs / current, to lengthy spells, such as Thunderblade.

He’s extremely adept in the use of his double-edge Swallow, and he’s also extremely agile and quick on his feet. Due to the fact he’s part ‘angel’, if you will, he can make use of seemingly holographic wings and fly short distances. Though don’t count on those in times of crisis. They weren’t made for long-distance flying and will pretty much exhaust the hard-head.

Of course, now that he’s in this ‘dream world’, the plethora of spells and magic that were once at his disposal are subdued. Not only is there a strain placed upon his magic, but on his mind as well. Oh bother.

[Affection] He can be an anti-social grump.  He's usually all business and serious, but he does have a subtle, light-hearted, joking side.  He doesn't get close to people easily, so watch out :|  And if you're one of those people he is close to, you're not being left alone.  He is your undeclared guard-dog.  But yeah, unexpected affection?  He'll flail.
[Fighting] He can  kick ass.  Enough said.  But really, if you want a fight or something, just send me a message.  I'm sure if you infringe on the JUSTICE about, Yuan will fight you :|b  Or if you harm anyone he's really close to.
