new leaf!
Though the debacle of getting my financial aid appeal approved still looms, I can finally say I have a major found, and am enrolled and paid up for my first semester back to school since *gasp* 2005.
It has been a trying few years working full-time, sometimes jobhopping, stressing about making ends meet, and supporting my amazing-but-over-worked-and-over-stressed-while-still-going-to-school hubby. We've made it through with flying colors and now he has taken up the full-time job mantle, and I prepare to add school to my own list of reasons for being over-worked and over-stressed. And I really could not be more excited.
As I've complained, rather compulsively, to my better half over the years--not being in school has left me listless and feeling generally useless, unproductive, and miserable. Since I have such a burning need to contribute artistically to world--and in the selfish way that will let me get paid for it *crossing fingers*--I firmly hold that the time spent NOT pursuing my education has been an idle waste. Thus leaving me obsessively and eagerly awaiting this very time when I can return to the sacred halls of learning to better myself and look to the future. Let me stress obsessively. (Finally! says my husband--she'll finally SHUT UP).
So let me share my glee! My class schedule (for the moment back at MCC to pursue 2 year transfer degree) is as follows:
MW 8am-10:45am (drawing I, unfortunately lvl 1 is necessary for the degree)
MWF 11am-11:50am (art history prehistoric-gothic--class w/ Chrisling!)
MWF 12pm-12:50pm (math...and all I have to say is BLEGH)
and a lit class thru the internet offered by a professor I was happy to find had some very nice reviews on ratemyproffesor.com
So now remains changing my work schedule to a proper 20 hours a week (thus reducing my suicidal tendencies by half!). My manager has been so wonderful and helpful so far, I'm hoping I can get my preferred 10-hr shifts on Tues/Thurs approved. Or early shifts on those days so I could commute with my mom and a short shift on Saturday. I'll be sending the request in to her tomorrow officially so we'll see.
