What ho! I am updating again, for great justice.
Things at Mount Holyoke have generally been busy, as per usual. I have my 3 seminars crammed into Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, making those days extremely undesirable and packed with work. However, this is of course, my own fault given that I have the rest of the week including the weekend to sit on my ass/ride my bike/do work to make these days less crappy. I keep meaning to do work on Thursday and Friday and then I keep...not. Oh well, this week shall be the week! I can feel it!
My classes so far have been decent. Astronomy 100 is my fun class and I loves it greatly. I think it's the only lecture that I've actually really sat there riveted for the whole time. The professor is great too, which makes the whole experience that much better. As for my 3 seminars and my Stats class things seem to be chugging along smoothly so far. I'm not yet overwhelmed by taking a course overload, though I should probably hit myself for saying that because I'm sure I will be.
Except for my Philosophy of Neuroscience seminar. That class equals EPIC FAIL. SO FAR WE HAVE YET TO DO ANY REAL PHILOSOPHY. It has consisted of the Professor assigning us asinine readings on things that HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH PHILOSOPHY AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH FAIL AND SLIME AND BRAINS AND TINY MOUSE TORTURE. DO NOT WANT. I signed up for that class so I could a.) complete my minor and b.) talk about Philosophy, which I consider excellent. If the Professor continues to descend into fail I will take a picture of her face and post it on fail blog. I NO CAN HAS SCIENCE MINOR, I CAN HAS PHILOSOPHY MINOR.
Anyway.
I finally shelled out the big bucks for my new bike. 1400 big ones. (Yes I'm the idiot that pays more for a bike than most people my age pay for a car.) My bank account cries tears of blood and pain, but my heart dances with new bike joy. So far it has proven to be everything I had wanted. It handles like shooting up cocaine, and the suspension is the equivalent of several orgasms. My bike is sex.
I also took it's race virginity this weekend, which was excellent. 15 miles of mud and blood and pain. I had craptons of fun, and managed to cripple myself for a day or so. You see, in mountain bike races bridges are built so you can get over streams or valleys and such with relative ease, or at least that's the theory. There were many bridges in this race, but there was one bridge that was not so great. I made it over said bridge twice, and then the third time, in my exhausted stupor, I did not notice that two of the slats were missing from the rest of humanity smashing into it and proceeded to hit the bridge with full speed, which resulted in crashing at full speed. This resulted in fail, as well as a giant bruise the size of my entire thigh on my leg. I somehow managed to get back on my bike and finish the race. I then could not walk well for the rest of the day so I hobbled about with a cane.
I will not get back to my Philosophy reading, which I have been avoiding through retelling the adventures of my life on livejournal.
Oh, I also really need some new icons, so if anyone could direct me to some good ones it would be greatly appreciated.
