From left to right: Key, Kikwang, Kwanghee
Music Bank's year-end special aired a couple days ago and all of the performances were good but one both excited and horrified me. SHINee's Key, Z:EA's Kwanghee and B2ST's Kikwang got together to represent K-pop’s Hot Trend IV for 2010, "Personality Performance." For this, they did Orange Caramel's "Magic Girl." Now I would expect such a thing from Key and Kwanghee. In fact, we've seen them do these kinds of things before. But Kikwang?! Lee Kikwang?! From B2ST?!
As I've said before, B2ST is quickly climbing the ladder of my all-time favorite K-pop groups and at some point I developed this very masculine, guy's guy perception of them. And in the "Beautiful" MV, after Kikwang made his geeky entrance, he got all sexified during his little dance routine. This performance was a direct contrast to my narrow view of him. It was like watching a train wreck... an awesome train wreck but a train wreck nonetheless.
Now I know, where have I been, right? We all know B2ST are total fanboys of the female idols but the choice of song is what gets me. Its one thing if its like "Jumping" or "Yayaya" or even "Hoot" but an Orange Caramel song? Thats a whole different level!
The fact of the matter is, this threw me for a loop because Kikwang was totally freaking cute! I have seriously watched the video like 20 times just to stare at him. Its a side of him I've never seen and while I'm fascinated, I don't know if I like it or not. Maybe he should do some more personality performances so I can make an informed decision.... hmmmm? Check it out for yourself.
