5dolls, the female sub-unit of Co-Ed School, has made it's debut! MVs for "
Lip Stains" and "
Your Words/I'm Talking To You" are out and promotions have started.
I watched the MVs. Jay Park is in them. He looks hot.
When I saw the teaser photos or videos or whatever teased us before the MVs came out, I remember thinking, Chanmi looks tore up, someone get her to the stylist quick! Turns out, in the MV, she is sick or something and ends up in the hospital, possibly dead.
My bad.
They are called 5dolls but in the MVs, if I'm not looking for the other ones, I only see 2. The main characters are Jay, Chanmi and the new girl, Eunkyo. Both girls like Jay and get upset at each other and I never understand why women do that. Be mad at the piece of shit dude who is having a good time being with you both, not at each other. Or at least be mad at each other after you've teamed up to make his life a living hell.
Anyway the songs seemed "eh" to me until I saw them perform on M!Countdown last night and then they became more fun and enjoyable. They all look decent and sound a lot better than they did when performing with Co-Ed.
A couple notes: a) They're outfits, while train wreck-ish, for "Lip Stains," are all cute except for Leader Soomi's. The track pants did NOT look good and made her look much older than the rest of the group. I know she is the eldest but she didn't have to look like she was approaching ahjumma status. Thankfully, the uniform outfits for "I'm Talking To You" didn't make that mistake.
b) I can finally see Hyoyoung and her resemblance to T-ara member, and twin sister, Hwayoung. She's cute and I like her rapping. I like Hwayoung better though.
c) Eunkyo is totally cute and OMG she's only 14! Aish.
The red hair WORKS for her though and she rocks it on stage.
d) Lastly, Chanmi's voice isn't annoying... most of the time. People with high-pitched singing voices should shy away from long, high notes unless they've got it down pat. Otherwise, it just hurts people's ears. Be considerate. Aside from that however, I enjoyed her facial expressions and energy.
I really like this sub-group and even though the girls were already in the spotlight with Co-Ed, it somehow gives them a chance to shine in a different way. They seem like they are more upbeat and possibly enjoying performing more. The stage is less crowded so you really get a good look at each girl and their charisma.
While I liked "
Too Late" A LOT, I don't think they were ready for that song. And "
Bbiribbom Bbaeribom" immediately tarnished their reputation and branded them as mostly untalented. Hopefully the sub-units will allow them to refine their skills so they can group up again and bring us some real Idol performances.
Now I'm really anxious to see the male sub-unit of Co-Ed. That oughtta be downright delicious.
