Hi.
So like, I haven't updated this thing in a month and a half. I thought that maybe I should.
School has been in session for a couple weeks now. Well, more like three to me, due to Law Review orientation. Classes are pretty good so far. Copyright is a ton of fun. Plus, I have a class with Baker again, which is always interesting and enlightening. Professional Responsibility is pretty terrible, though. It is long, dull, and the professor sucks. Plus, it is a ton of reading. But oh well, it is required.
The real meat of what I am doing this year is Law Review, however. It is extremely intensive, and a ton of work. However, it is very rewarding work. It isn't doing crap for some teacher that will be read once then thrown out. This is real research, writing, and editing. This stuff is going to get published, maybe even the article I'm writing. That is exciting.
My article is about Google Image Search being sued for creating thumbnails of copyrighted images, and then in-line linking the full images in a frame. Of course people are wailing about their copyrights being infringed upon. But is it fair use, because the thumbnails are worthless, and it is o great public benefit? Or is it not fair use because Google makes money? That's pretty much the crux of my paper. I think it is immensely interesting.
Beyone that, I do a ton of techciting. We pretty much get 6 or so pages from an article that we will publish, and edit the hell out of it. Especially the citations. You have to check each citation with the original source to be sure it is completely accurate. Most of the pages are half filled with footnotes and citations. It is pretty daunting and takes forever. But it is great experience, and it needs to be done.
Around the house, stuff is the same as always. The roommates are pretty good, aside from being dirty at times. But everyone who has ever had a roommate knows what that's like. Colin is going out for the moot court trial team which is pretty exciting. James, as always, is doing not much at all.
The only thing that is interesting around here is the cat. She's really awesome. This is her when she was a little smaller:
She's the friendliest little thing. She was sleeping on my lap when I started writing this. She's so sweet, even Colin loves her. Really, a special little cat.
I haven't don'e much since classes started. except this weekend I went and hung out with Amy for a while. It was really good to see her. We got apple dumplings at an orchard, and they were great.
Oh, and I'm thinking about ditching the beard. Thoughts?
