Arse! That's our wedding anniversary, and whilst I wouldn't mind going to this on my anniversary (excuse for posh frock, good music, likeminded peeps etc), unless it was non-smoking, I can't see beermat agreeing with me!
As you say: Arse. Sadly making it a non-smoking event would meaning turning away a large crowd, I suspect... and given the need to cover the costs :( Best I can promise is a non-smoking section but that's not going to cut the mustard is it?
Well depending how they are done, non-smoking sections can sometimes work. Problem is enforcing them once the alcohol starts to flow.... Never mind. Hold the next one in Ireland ;-)
Am happy (indeed inclined) to have a non-smoking section but the concerns on their effectiveness for people with a sensitivity (rather than dislike) for smoke is the concern. Depends if you folks want to take this risk and whether bar/security will enforce things

It may be worth polling people, but I suspect legislation is a bigger stick than other people's comfort
