I like some of them better than others, but most Disney sidekicks are definitely expies. I'd say especially the non-speaking animals are similar to one another (probably since there's less room to individualize them without making them speak). And I agree with the OP to the point that it seems really evident in the horse characters. I think Samson, Phillipe, Kahn and Maximus all share very distinct similarities in personality. Also, I'm now suddenly wondering why all of the horses are male...
I actually am really liking Angus's design. Has he really been spotlighted all that much as a sidekick? I didn't even know his name was Angus until this secret. I'm hoping he's very horse-like too, OP; I just think it'd suit the feel of the movie a lot better if he was as far faaaar away from Tangled's Maximus as possible.
The only thing that bothers me about him is that he's male. I'm actually really looking forward to Naga from the new Last Airbender series for this reason... because she's an actual female animal sidekick!! :O OMG, this, like, never happens.
