I'm kinda with you on this. I would hate to see Taylor Swift play one of the princesses...

oh my... who would she even play??
I do want to say though while I still don't like Taylor Swift, I kinda feel bad for her. I feel like Kanye's the best thing that happened to her and that kinda sucks.

I'm sure I've seen people suggest her as Aurora :| Yeah the hair could probably be similar but I feel like it seems to be all about hair when people pick out RL people. I nearly typed actress their but from what I hear Ms Swift aint the best :p

Yeah it does seem to be solely about hair color, but even then, Swift is hardly the only blonde in hollywood. You could still pick a celeb based solely on hair color and have it be an actually good fit for the role.

THIS! It gets so annoying. Some of them I can see, but most of them are ridiculous. I've said this elsewhere, but I think it makes more sense to cast little known actors/actresses. Give someone their big break so to speak. (So long as the person is a good actor/actress and fits the part, obvs.)

Not only give someone their big break, but let the audience actually pretend that IS Belle or Aurora instead of Celebrity X playing dress-up. Taylor Swift as Sleeping Beauty would, imo, feel exactly like Taylor Swift playing Sleeping Beauty

I think it makes more sense to cast little known actors/actressesI definitely agree that realistically speaking, little known actors/actresses would be best for the part because I think it would be almost distracting to have a big name be a princess -- you wouldn't be able to see them as a princess without thinking of their normal persona. Also, casting new talent would involve a wider pool and help you find the perfect Aurora/Cinderella/whatever ( ... )

I swear, most of the time when people do these casting lists, they're thinking of the actresses' hair and nothing else. Hair can be cut, styled, dyed, whatever, but talent to capture a character's spirit can't be faked.

^^^^^THIS

I had this very conversation with someone because of my disagreeing with the casting of Amy Adams as Ariel.

It's sort of like how Emma Stone just dyed her hair back to blonde for Gwen Stacey in Spider-man. Everyone was/is in shock. But, honestly, hair should not be the deciding factor. Other physical attributes can even be negated to a lesser extent (like, I would doubt there's someone out there who has eyes as big as Rapunzel's, for example). But if the person can't capture the character, then it doesn't matter how close they look the part.

I especially disagree with Amy Adams as Ariel because Adams is already another Disney princess (and since the role essentially was her, I think Giselle suits her much more than Ariel. Besides, who would play Giselle then?!)

You know how much I agree with this. She can't act (she was absolutely panned in Valentine's Day). The songs would be off key. She doesn't look like any of the princesses. Oh, and they would have to change the plotline to the prince turning into the bad guy in the end and abandoning her after pretending to be her hero...

Taylor Swift as a princess is a terrible, terrible idea. She's not even a good singer. :(

Heh I agree some dream-casts fill me with horror more than excitement, but oh well. As someone who has very limited knowledge of actors/actresses, I wouldn't be able to do much better, so I cut people some slack. :)
