Ariel had finished her assignments for the day, and had enjoyed the fair for a while as well, but it was time to swim, it wasn't official swim-team time, since she had to swim for at least an hour every day to keep her scales from drying out and leaving her stuck with legs forever, and that would just be all sorts of awkward

Just then the girl attached to the tail bobbed up. Marian looked away in surprise. She started walking again towards the gym, hoping she hadn't offended the girl by staring.

She swept a hand over her hair to sluice the excess water out of it and lift it back from her face, "I'm Ariel, don't we have World History at the same time?"

"I do know you, but I don't think we've been properly introduced. I'm Marian," she says taking a few steps towards the pool's edge. "Are you a freshman too?" She assumed the answer was going to be yes. Who except freshman and sophomores would take something as basic as World History?

She swept a hand through her hair again, twisting it over her shoulder and wringing it out a little, giggling at the patter of droplets on her tail, "What other classes do you take? I'm trying to learn everything!"

She had relaxed now from the initial surprise. Perhaps mermaids simply didn't come on land often, but this one seemed perfectly sociable.
"What about you? Have you picked a major yet?" She did say she wanted to learn everything, right?

Most mermaids didn't come to land that often, if at all, it was just that Ariel had gotten special dispensation for school.

"Misplaced languages? Did we lose them somewhere?" she said with a giggle. Marian had skimmed through the catalog when she was signing up for classes, but it was massive, so she only looked at her requirements for the time being. She meant to go back at some point, but hadn't been able to yet.
"Anyway, if you do art I'd like to see your work sometime," Marian did love those sorts of things even if she had little talent for it herself.

She shrugged, "And I don't know that I want to make art myself, I like learning about the history of it through the ages, helps me appreciate it."
