[Sinbad hadn't been around when the fire was occurring, but the smoke from where he was did alarm him. Whatever it was that caused the smoke had fortunately died out, but due more to his curiosity than anything else, Sinbad couldn't help but want to know what was happening. After wandering the halls of the floors he knew were around his, he eventually found Esmeralda's room.
It was in pretty bad...alright, it was in really bad shape. Scorch marks and burnt objects and ashes and smoke that fogged up the room. He coughed a little, pulling the top of his shirt to cover his nose and squinting his eyes before letting himself in.]
Hello? Anyone...
[He cocks his head and offers a hand to Esme, a little surprised to see her so dispassionate about whatever had gone on in here. He lets his shirt go and frowns a little.]
[ The only thing left smoldering in the room were the few books she owned, what looked like very old literature to begin with. Burned and black prom dresses lay sprawled on the bed, the bed quilt itself looked like it'd begun to feel the heat before the fire was put out. Lucky for her, her tambourine and most of her tapestries lay in the Arts building. However, more personal items like jewelry, mirrors and other accessories, her costumes and even older items, such as a scorched doll lay in the corner of the room, their fate lying with her better judgement on whether or not it was worth it to keep. She offers a humble smile to Sinbad. ]
Could be better.
[ Her tone is tired and her voice is a bit hoarse from the smoke. Already exhausted from what she's gone through. ]
[He gives a nod and then takes another look around. Now he can see more of the remnants she'd dug out, but it's not much. He wouldn't know what to do if his room had ever ended up like this, but he didn't have that many things he considered sentimental anymore.]
Need help? Looking for anything, I mean.
[He crouches beside her, not about to dive into her things unless she OK's it.]
[ Djali's asleep in the corner, even her breathing is uneven, and she isn't as much a steady sleeper as you would've thought. It's only a few moments until she stirs awake, wondering about this strange guy in her best buddy's room. ]
Only moving things out and away. In case it flares up again.
[ Meaning there's nothing in particular she's looking to save. If she had high hopes, surely they'd be shot down, like they were with the dresses, among the rest of her clothing. ]
[He looks up. Not too many things surprise Sinbad, a goat in the corner of the room? Yeah. That was one that did. He stares blankly a few moments before giving Djali and awkward wave.]
So you want to move things to the middle of the room for now?
[He scratches his chin, trying to think over the best way he could do this. Being, well, Sinbad, he didn't want to make the poor girl overexert herself. Clearly she'd been through enough.]
Of course I'll help, sweetheart, just tell me where you'd like me to start.
[He gets up and stretches his arms quick, giving a grin and a wink. Maybe it'd lighten the mood, though he suspected she was too exhausted to feel thrilled about anything.]
That's the general idea. Start anywhere you'd like.
[ 'I don't have anything to hide.' or rather 'I'm too upset to bother hiding anything at this point really.' Djali nudged at her friend, then looked suspiciously at Sinbad. Kid's got an eye on you, bro. An album lay half opened, the cover scorched and the inside now bare, the contents lay unharmed next to the doorway. ]
lemme know if she put it there and i responded wrong, i can redo D:blamemeforitJuly 19 2011, 07:01:30 UTC
[He nods, wincing at the glare from Djali, before going to the larger furniture and pulling it away from the walls, bed first. It's a little heavy but he takes top and slides it, then grabs the foot of the bed and lifts it a little to straighten it in the center of the room. While he wipes his forehead, the album caught his eye. He gives Es a curious look before going to pick up what had been inside, his eyes scanning quick before holding them out to her.]
Yours I presume?
[He clears his throat a little, looking down and his eyes widening a little.]
[ The bed looks like it's caught the brunt of the smoke and ash, it's clear from the cutout it's left on the wall. She glances over after tossing a pair of ruined shoes to the pile. There are very few actual photos in it, more drawings, pressed flowers, a handkerchief. Smaller tokens. ]
Mmhmm. I'd rather them in the Arts building. You get more than just coins in my line of work.
[ Blink. Bleeding? She takes a look around herself---oh. Hey. Maybe she is. Another glance, and there's some spots, smears of it on the floor. ]
[He smirks a little, of course that's the pirate in him speaking again. Anything for a few coins, right? Then again...there's no way he could get money for what Esme does.]
Yeah...sit down, let me have a look.
[He pats the mattress and gestures for her to sit.]

You alright?
[Yeah. I'm sure she looks it, Sinbad.]

There isn't much left, to be honest.
